| Blurry HTC Evo 4G appears in Sprint Store Posted: 02 May 2010 08:37 AM PDT Supposedly this picture was taken at a Sprint store in Florida. There's an EVO event being held next week, it looks as though you will be able to purchase this device at the time or shortly after. We're hoping for availability on that day, guess we'll keep our fingers crossed.
By now we all should be familiar with the specs of this device so I'm going to skip that part. If this device is already making its way into stores there is a really good chance that it's going to be available soon. Apple is launching the new iPhone soon so maybe Sprint wants to get the drop on them. Android will get a whole lot stronger when this drops, the Incredible is doing well and the Desire will be here shortly. Which of these devices are you waiting on? Personally I want to see the Shadow as the Nexus 2, I'll get that soon as it drops. [via engadget] |
| Quick Look At The T-Mobile Garminfone Posted: 02 May 2010 08:19 AM PDT Ok, we've seen a ton of pictures of Garmin's first entry into to the Android game. Now there's a video of this handset in action. The guys over at Tmonews managed to get their hands on this video. Another custom UI comes with the introduction of this phone. It's designed to fulfill all your GPS needs, we finally get a chance to see how it works.
Hopefully after viewing this video you now know what to expect from this device. Judging from the video, you will not get the feel of a real Android device from this phone. That's a good and bad thing, it's great to see the versatility of the OS but if you're looking for the full Android experience this may not be the device for you. The UI isn't really appealing either but if you travel a lot, this will surely give you a more robust navigation experience then Google Maps (Maps got me stranded a few times). And look at the bright side, this device isn't out yet so hopefully some of its shortcomings will be ironed out before its release. Click here to view the embedded video. [via tmonews] |
| Shadow, Nexus 2 or Droid 2 Live Pictures? Posted: 02 May 2010 08:05 AM PDT The Shadow has been M.I.A. since we first heard about it a few months ago. It's slowly making its way back to the forefront of Android news. Recently we've seen it pass the Wi-Fi alliance sporting wireless N technology and a few other details came with it. Now we have the first possible live shots of the final product.
The picture above is possibly the Shadow. This picture shows an HDMI and microUSB jack. The dual LED 8 MP camera makes an appearance as well, checkout the HD Video branding. There have also been rumblings around the web that this could be the Droid 2. What do you guys think? Rumored Specs: • Large 4.3″ capacitive screen [thanks Stefan, laptopmemo] |
| Posted: 01 May 2010 07:37 PM PDT LG has teamed up with the makers of Iron Man 2. A commercial has leaked that displays the LG Ally in all its glory (kind of). If you're waiting for a physical keyboard and Android you may have a few choices soon. This phone is also rumored to be landing on Verizon's network.
This phone is rumored to feature Android 2.1 with a 1GHz Snapdragon processor and 5MP camera. Although, the folks over at Androidandme has suggested this phone has a 600MHZ CPU. It's also rumored to launch in the middle of May. It's loosely based on the LG LU2300, it shares most of the same specs but it looks better. So enjoy the commercial, it's really entertaining. |
| Samsung Galaxy S I9000 TV commercial – video Posted: 01 May 2010 07:22 PM PDT Guess it official now, from the looks of we won't have to wait long to get our hands on it. The Samsung Galaxy S is coming to AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint first and followed up with Verizon coming on later this year. A promotional commercial has been released and it gives us something more to look forward too.
The guys over at Androidspin found this video around the web. Besides showing off this awesome handset, a dock was also ousted. It appears to be a multimedia dock, it will most like function like the dock for the Droid. This device will be the first after the Samsung/Yahoo! partnership. It has Android 2.1, the device has a 4-inch Super AMOLED display, a 1GHz processor, a 5-megapixel camera with HD video capture and is the first phone with Samsung's new Smart Life user interface in favor of TouchWiz. |
| Official Apps to SD Coming With Froyo? Posted: 01 May 2010 06:59 PM PDT Froyo is shaping up to be the biggest update since 1.5 aka cupcake. If this does come true coupled with Flash integration this may very well be the biggest update to Android since its introduction. Our staff member Extorian has uncovered some dialogue made by a Google employee that pretty much confirms this is coming.
Ever since the G1 was released ages ago, the biggest complaint about Android was the lack of app storage. Many users think low app storage will limit the installation and availability of good apps (the best ones are usually huge). For the longest you could nullify this weakness by rooting and gaining the ability to store your apps to your SD card. Rooting isn't for everyone so this official method is probably the biggest upgrade to Android. |
