| Sprint Samsung Epic 4G TV Commercial: Or Is It Halo? Posted: 30 Aug 2010 10:49 AM PDT Have you seen this Halo commercial? Or wait, maybe it is a Droid commercial from Verizon? Well those are both wrong, It is the Sprint commercial for the Samsung Epic 4G. Is Sprint feeling the heat from the Droid style commercials from Verizon? Maybe they are just trying to fool the gamer crowd into watching the whole thing, just to only realize it isn’t a commercial for the latest Halo.
Whatever made Sprint head this direction in their marketing is not known to us, but we can not help but think that there could almost be a lawsuit for this kind of forgery. Feel free to watch the commercial below to see. Go ahead, tell us, what do you think? Click here to view the embedded video. [via YouTube] ) |
| Rockchip Next Gen Android Chip That Supports 2.1 Posted: 30 Aug 2010 10:18 AM PDT Rockchip is launching it’s next generation chip for Android. The RK2818 chip will be powering select phones and mid range tablets. The three-core processor includes 660MHZ ARM, DSP, and GPU. The chip should allow for really good 720 HD video performance, and make Flash and HTML 5 video run with ease. It has an integrated 3G module to allow connectivity for TD-SCDMA, WCDMA, CDMA2000 EVDO.
The devices that will run this chip are said to be capable of handling 800×480, 800×600, 1024×600 screen resolutions along with 512MB of RAM. We don’t know all the devices that will be running this chip of course, but it sounds promising at the direction things are heading. [via Cloned In China] ) |
| LG E720 Android Handset Leaked Posted: 30 Aug 2010 09:44 AM PDT Well look what we have here, its an LG Android equipped handset that looks similar to the Galaxy S, on a smaller scale. Packed below it’s 3.2 inch capacitive display, is a Qualcomm MSM7227 processor, GPS, Wi-Fi, and a 5 megapixel camera on back. It will be running 2.2 and have some sort of new UI that we have apparently not seen before.
Currently, there has not been a price or release date announced, but with leaked shots like this hopefully it will not be too long. There will be more details as they evolve, but in the mean time, don’t be worried about trying to replace your Droid, or Galaxy S with this in the future. [via android.com.pl] |
| Froyo For Samsung’s Galaxy S Could Be Here Soon Posted: 30 Aug 2010 09:13 AM PDT We know, there have been whisperings of 2.2 coming to the Galaxy S phones in the early fall, and now we have a screen shot that could bring some truth to that. It’s only a screen shot, but surely this is an early build that is being tested.
You will notice under the model number it says GT-I9000–that is model number for the Galaxy S phones, if you were not aware. So, this is a small leak but we are ecstatic to see anything that is involving Froyo on the Galaxy S phones. We are in hopes that some of the bugs that phones have had in, them (GPS Issues) will be taken care of in the update. In the mean time, try to be as patient as possible, early fall is right around the corner. [via engadget] ) |
| More and More Galaxy Tab Accessories Revealed Posted: 30 Aug 2010 08:13 AM PDT If you didn’t get enough excitement about the Galaxy tab accessories this weekend, here are some more that should make you perk up. There are now pics over at OLED-Display of a Bluetooth stylus that has a remote built in it, to allow you to control the device hands-free.
Along with the pen, we have a dock connector that will convert to standard USB and allow you to upload pictures on the Tab from a camera, and hopefully it will recognize most cameras. It appears there will be plenty choices of cases available, being that we are seeing a lot of different styles and the tablet isn’t even available yet. So hurry up Samsung and announce this thing already! [via SlashGear] |
| KT Identity Tab Has Been Announced Posted: 30 Aug 2010 07:44 AM PDT No, this isn’t the Galaxy Tab here everyone. The Korean carrier KT has announced their own 7 inch tablet, called the Identity Tab. The tablet will be powered by the ever so popular 1GHz processor, have 8GB of internal storage and the really cool thing is it has a DMB TV Tuner built in.
The Identity Tab will have HDMI port access, along with an SD card slot and a 3-megapixel camera on the back. KT is aiming this device, mainly for web surfing and something to read an ebook on. No word on what version of Android will be on this, but we will keep our fingers crossed that it is 2.2. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth will be aboard here, along with the main connectivity of the WiBro data service that will bundled in with the device. The Identity Tab is available to buy starting today, with a price tag of 300,000 won ($251) contract-free or with a 24-month WiBro agreement (priced at 27,000 won ($23) per month). [via SlashGear] |
| O2 Dell Streak getting Android 2.1 from September 1st Posted: 30 Aug 2010 04:39 AM PDT UK carrier O2 has confirmed that the Dell Streak Android 2.1 update will begin rolling out from September 1st, meaning owners of the tablet could be playing (officially) with Eclair as soon as Wednesday this week. The release is a stop-gap to tide the Streak over until Android 2.2 Froyo is released later in 2010. There’s no word from AT&T or Dell in the US as to when they’ll be releasing the Android update for US buyers of the Streak, who will still be stuck with Android 1.6, though various leaked builds of Android 2.1 are already in the wild if you’re unwilling to wait. | Droid X Has A Custom Rom, And Where Is The Google Voice Widget? Posted: 29 Aug 2010 08:15 PM PDT Motorola said that it can’t be done, the Droid X is on lock down and no custom ROMS will be loaded. Well, it looks like we are seeing something different here. The Sapphire AOSP 2.2 ROM has been loaded and spied running on a Droid X, and if you would like more details on the ROM head on over to the Sapphire site, here.
Also, we have seen some info on a Google Voice widget recently, and if you are wanting to know how to get the updated Google Voice on your phone, you can head over to this link here and download the APK. There have been issues reported with dialer pad buttons not working on some of the Sense ROMS, so download at your own risk. We do not have an official release of the app yet, but I am sure if you hold tight it will be updated in the market before long. [via Android Central] |

These are very impressive numbers for the short amount of time that the Series of phones have been available. One of the main reasons that the devices have been such a success, is the availability of the devices on multiple carriers.

| Samsung Galaxy Tab Spotted in Israel Posted: 29 Aug 2010 03:42 PM PDT Seems like the Galaxy Tab has been showing up all kinds of places lately, along with the accessories. Here, a pre-release version was spotted in Israel, this morning. It was said that the device was running 2.2 with a slightly upgraded user interface. You can obviously see the sticker on the device that says CDMA, which gives credence that the device, will most likely be available on Verizon or Sprint’s network.
Supposedly the device is very snappy, and is running Flash without any issues. Calls of some sort were made on the device, but were not specified if they were over 3G or Wi-Fi. The GPS was operating well, despite the issues that some of the Galaxy S phones have had in the recent past. The user stated that they were really excited about the device and claim that “it’s a true iPad competitor”. However, we are going to hold back, on making our official thoughts on the tablet until we have one in our hands to use and interact with. So in the mean time, watch the videos, stare at the pics, maybe even go play with a Galaxy S phone in the store to prolong your excitement. We sure will. [via SlashGear and via Gadgety] |
| Elocity A7 Android Tablet Available Through Amazon Soon Posted: 29 Aug 2010 01:19 PM PDT Well, here we go again, more Android tablet news. This time it’s from a new company with the name of StreamTV. The Elocity A7 is a 7 inch tablet, like the Galaxy Tab, but will be powered by a 1 GHz Tegra II-720 CPU, which should be stunning for HD video playback and gaming. The display is sporting an 800×480 resolution, and has multi-touch capabilities with the capacitive touchscreen in the browser and the photo gallery.
On the outside of the device, we have a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera, USB Port, and HDMI Port. StreamTV says the HDMI cord will be included in the box, along with a wireless keyboard. These are very welcomed additions to the purchase. The tablet will ship with 2.2, but unfortunately the device will not have access to the marketplace because of restrictions. Instead they have their own store called the GetJar app store, and you can always side load apps if you would like. The Elocity A7 will be available from StreamTV, through Amazon late September, early October for $399. Even though this looks like a very intriguing device, we want to see what IFA-2010 is bringing for us next week, along with announcements that we are going to be getting for the holiday season.
