Solaris Watch

Posted: 01 Feb 2011 09:34 AM PST

A concept watch for Tokyoflash, the Solaris features solar cells as an integral part of the design. It definitely has that almost “too hard to use” quality found on most Tokyoflash watches but theres something about this design I find extremely appealing. Perhaps because it looks like a device a sci-fi hero would use to jump through time.

Signs on a Tree

Posted: 01 Feb 2011 01:55 AM PST

Imagine using a flexible LED solar panel as traffic signal! The idea is awesome. It can be installed on any existing circular base like a tree or a utility pole. So there you have a tree that's a prime spot for a pedestrian signal, and here is this flexi strip waiting to be coiled around the tree! Easy urban and rural installation.

Patch of Coffee Green

Posted: 01 Feb 2011 01:54 AM PST

Mugs aren't just plain ceramic objects that hold beverages. They have grown to become something meaningful with sentimental value. A whole industry thrives by selling us zodiac related goods, love messages and what not. Adding to that list is "Grow Up", a set of mugs with grassy bottoms. The concept is good, I just got a Message Bean, which I am nurturing, so a gifted mug/ grass patch is most welcome.

Spring + Gear + Motor = Energy

Posted: 01 Feb 2011 12:03 AM PST

It’s completely brilliant! Can you take this idea apart? This is a portable spring driven power generator design concept by designer Satoshi Yanagisawa, one that says you’ll be able to recharge your daily portable gadgets anytime anywhere without further negative impact to the environment. Sounds alright! The name of this project is “Cyclus,” and it’s a spring driven personal electricity generator. A hand held device that, when its bottom is twisted, provides 30 minutes of energy via the inner located spring via “rotation energy.”

The energy generated, Yanagisawa says, is enough to drive the DC motor (in the upper part of the device) to produce energy approximately equal to 6.6V 3W. Yanagisawa envisions this device as a catalyst for the next generation of ideas that generate social togetherness as well as electric energy.

Invisible Dome of Audio

Posted: 01 Feb 2011 12:03 AM PST

Behold one wild bit of smoke and mirrors – in a good way! This is The Dome, an all-in-one stereo system that both plays audio CDs and can load music from musical devices such as the iPod. From a distance, this stereo appears to be a giant black disk. Once you approach it, the controls, the iPod, or the disks become visible for you to access and change as you wish. Such subtlety is magic.

Hopefully Iliescu creates a version that can also play vinyl records and music from USB drives – that’d be the best! Also Bluetooth. As far as the form of this design goes, though, it’s amazing and perfect. Seek additional details on this product in the image presentation below, and see that it gets made in real life!

GitFit App With a Twist

Posted: 01 Feb 2011 12:02 AM PST

You’ll be twisting, turning, and flipping over how fun it is to interact with yourself and your friends and family as exercising is turned into a social media activity as enjoyable as Facebook, Foursquare, or even Twitter! This is GitFit, a conceptual set of weights and an iOS app that makes connecting with your other fit friends as simple as changing the music track on your iPhone or iPod Touch. The weights you’ll be using are 8 oz each and have built-in heart rate monitors and a Bluetooth transmitter so that you can work with the app wirelessly. Fun!
