Posted: 20 May 2010 08:14 AM PDT Ballerine is a creative combination of a single bathtub and a free standing shower cabin. The integrated shower head functions as a bath faucet and a shower disc. It’s installed on a flexible arm which easily adjusts to any height and allows you to set the intensity of the water stream and direction. The flexible arm is constructed of an adjustable nylon-silicon surface. Once activated, the frame stiffens like a backbone. If you’ve ever wanted to live out your dream as a tiny ballerina inside a music box, here you go. Designer: Gustaw Lange |
Posted: 20 May 2010 07:54 AM PDT Immersed Senses is the ultimate gadget must have for any underwater explorer. The helmet changes the way a diver sees, hears, and breathes in what normally is a not-so-friendly environment. Nearly made up of entirely glass and LED lights, the most interesting tidbits are the heads up displays giving you up-to-the-second GPS enabled maps, and the unique electrolysis reactor that extracts oxygen right from sea water. Water leaks are prevented by silicone that bonds the helmet to the skin. I want one! Designer: Adam Wendel |
Posted: 20 May 2010 04:38 AM PDT Relax, work, party or play; whatever your mood for music, imagine controlling the flow with a gesture alone. No shuffle or playlists required, just a good old SHAKE! I'm talking about the flOw, an interactive set of soft silicone speakers that respond to your vigor by choosing the tracks on your iPod and playing them. So if a bunch of friends are around and you shake the speakers hard and fast, expect some Rocking Music! Accelerometers and gesture control sensors embedded into the flOw's body pick up your movements. In lay terms, turning a speaker upside down will 'pour' the volume away! Overall a fun design, but as always…let's see what you guys have to say! Designer: David Boyce |
Posted: 20 May 2010 01:48 AM PDT We've asked you to stand up, smell and retrieve a ball, just to wake up! You folks have willingly complied, so are you up for another challenging wake-up call? STRETCH! Simple arms action that arouses you from slumber! Let me explain: the Stretching Clock is an alarm integrated into your pillow. To turn the buzzer off, you need to tug at the "arms" of the pillow; just like you're stretching out with a good yawn. Novel idea for the kids room, but for grownups like me the buzzing Blowfly works best! Designer: Seung-hee Ryu |
Posted: 20 May 2010 01:29 AM PDT Boo to you, you-land-polluting-extra-plastic STRAW! We don't need you! Not a great slogan for the green-brigade, but most definitely do-able. Ditch the straw and have the drinks-packs include an “Internal Straw”. A neatly folded layer of the box itself becomes the pipe to sip your drinks from. Simple, easy and GOOD! Rock and Roll Skimmin’ in Asia Posted: 20 May 2010 12:15 AM PDT Dubai is a city on the grow. It hit a kind of lull when the global economic fart happened a couple years ago, but they’re gonna get back up there eventually. And when they do, there’s going to be booming like never before. Population density insanity. And they’re right by the water. Thus, the possibility for artificial islands seems utterly super. Thus, the need for aquatic transport rises. Thus, it’s time to design more Kite Surfers! Thus, Jiwon Jung comes in and pumps out a wild one! According to Jung, the construction, cost, and amount of materials needed to make sailboats and motor yachts is just to great for our ever-greening future population. Therefor, Jung proposes kite surfing to be the way of the future. Wind as the driving force, this totally inexpensive mode of rocking is sure to be caught. Here Jung presents a three-seat hydrofoil with a center driving position and a sweeping cantilevered glass roof with exposed rear deck. Perfect for grilling whilst speeding! This project is done in conjunction with the GM Europe design center. Designer: Jiwon Jung |
Two Motorcycles Become One Car Posted: 20 May 2010 12:06 AM PDT This is the real deal in modern wild design. This is the “Plug-In” affordable youth mobility project by Ramesh Gound. According to Gound, there is a big “buy 1 get 1 free” shopping attitude in the market around the Ahmedabad area of India. This simple concept gave Gound the idea to take two motorcycles and attach them in the middle. Each motorcycle is owned by its respective party, a young person with a big appetite for sports vehicles but a small pocketbook, then they attach. Once two motos attach in the middle, they become that fantastic sports car from heaven. Two drive-by-wire bikes are owned by separate people. They wanna attach them for a longer drive or some sort of trip that’s not great for motorcycle, or hey, if they just wanna cruuuze… they attach in the center of the two. The hood is made of D3O, which when the bikes are not attached, stows away in the bike configuration. This whole concept is aimed to take on congested cities such as Mumbai. NOTE: some info from Gound — This project is my final year Diploma project at National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad India sponsored by Renault Design India. Rock it! Designer: Ramesh Gound |
Posted: 20 May 2010 12:01 AM PDT This ain’t about no beats. It’s got a bright nature about it though, colors and fabulous icons to make you say “ahh.” And what’s more unique about this particular set of clothes holders? Their shape. They’re all wavy. In the way the fronts of these drawers are shaped, there’s a space between the container and the frame. Thus, a handle. Four handles to be precise. You’ve got your special edition “Riddle” drawers (that’s what they’re called, the Riddle,) and you’ve got your milk chocolate.* *And when I say milk chocolate I of course mean standard. What a color jammer! This whole project and all the images are copyright Cross Electronics. Designer: Joongho Choi |
