Samsung Captivate for AT&T Unboxed and Handled by SlashGear

Posted: 12 Jul 2010 05:01 PM PDT

You’ve been aching to get your hands on the Samsung Galaxy, ever since it was announced. And then, sure enough, Samsung came through with their intentions and announced a comparable device on each of the main wireless carriers here in the United States. They’re all getting one. Which means that most of us out there have some options, and you know how we feel about options (they’re great). But, you’re probably waiting to see what it looks like out of the box, right? How about some video? Good. Because we’ve got that for you now, thanks to the fine folks over at SlashGear.

This one’s the Samsung Captivate. That’s the model that’s going to launch on AT&T in just a matter of days, which means it’s just about the perfect time to make sure you know what you’re getting, and if it’s worth it. As you can see from the plethora of pictures, and the video below, you should be able to make a pretty good educated guess as to whether or not the device will be something you want. So, without us ruining it anymore for you — here you go:

Droid Incredible Available Through Amazon Right Now

Posted: 12 Jul 2010 04:29 PM PDT

As of the time of this writing, Amazon is still saying they’ve got some Droid Incredibles held up somewhere, just waiting to get purchased by some customer out there. But, just having the Droid Incredible for people to order isn’t enough for Amazon, as is usual.

If you’ve been waiting for the delay in displays to die down so you can get your order of the Droid Incredible pushed through a Verizon store, maybe you should start looking at Amazon. They’ve apparently got them, ready to go, and they’re even selling it for $50 cheaper than the price you’ll get from Amazon. And let’s not forget that you won’t have to send in a mail-in rebate, either. (But that does still include the signing of a new, two-year contract.) So, that’s a bonus. The demand for the handset is still strong, so we don’t imagine Amazon will have them for long. Act now!

Samsung Galaxy S in Korea Getting Android 2.2 in August

Posted: 12 Jul 2010 04:18 PM PDT

So, as many rumors as we have heard about the Galaxy S, as far as the international version goes, revolving around Android 2.2 and its subsequent upgrade, it’s good to finally get a somewhat firm understanding of when we might expect to see it. It’s known as the Samsung M110S in Korea, but it’s the exact same Galaxy S that you’ve grown to love over the last few months. And yes, it’s getting upgraded to Android 2.2 in “early August.”

While many people look at their next phone purchase as a pretty big one, those that are looking at Android for their next mobile phone fix have to look at the roll-out of updates, too. Just the name of the game (unless you plan on rooting your device, then it doesn’t much matter). So, if you find yourself in Korea and checking out the Galaxy S in your region, be happy knowing that a Samsung official has confirmed the prodigal upgrade is coming to the handset some time in the early days of August. Nothing more concrete than that — like an exact date, but if it is indeed just around the corner, we should be hearing about the date soon enough. But, that just begs the question: when will the US counterparts get their own upgrade?
