Android Apps on The Galaxy Tab – Blurry, Pixelated, and a little ugly

Posted: 18 Sep 2010 09:49 AM PDT

Just as Google was stating that their Android 2.2 OS was not built for devices with a larger than 4 inch screen, analyst Rob Enderle of Enderle Group has said that Android Market apps simply will not look pleasing on the device because they were built for smaller screens. The iPad is faced with the same problem when running native iPhone applications and the user is faced with a "double pixel" view which in turn, doubles all pixels making the application bigger, but also more pixelated, out of focus and with jagged edges.

“Apps aren’t going to scale right and won’t be quite as pretty” on the Galaxy Tab, Enderle said in an interview. “The apps are probably going to be a little ugly.”

The web browsing and video viewing experience will still be phenomenal, it's just the developer Apps that will not scale properly. No word yet on just how bad it will look, but users will be able to see for themselves when it launches later this year on all 4 major US carriers, as well as a WiFi only version.

We can now confirm what many have been expecting, the Desire HD that was announced this week will not be coming to North America. According to a FCC filing, the device actually lacks any 3G radio bands matching those for North American carriers.

It looks like the EVO 4G will be the only HTC 4.4-inch Android device available in America for a while now. You can check out the additional FCC filings for the HTC Desire here.
