Droid X 2.2 Text Message Display order bug fix coming “soon”

Posted: 26 Sep 2010 10:43 AM PDT

When the Droid X finally got the 2.2 Froyo Upgrade many users rejoiced, it had been long overdue and finally getting it meant they could finally have the latest build of Google's Android Platform. However, the pure excitement didn't long, bugs showed up, many have proven to be very annoying. The most pesky bug involved how the phone handled text messages. When texting it seems that your most recent sent text is at the top of your sms list and all received text messages are found where ever that conversation happens to be in the list.

Well, the good news is that Motorola is aware of this issue, acknowledged that it was going to require a software update to fix, and are currently working on it as stated by Matt from the official Motorola Forums below:

"Okay. I have news. I talked to our engineering team and it appears that this will require a software upgrade to correct it. They are already on it and seemed confident that they know the why and the how-to-fix. I don’t have any timeline on when an update will be released, but when I know more I will let you know.

Sorry for this trouble and thanks for all the good detective work and for reporting it."

As always the no timeframe on release would be expected, but with the annoyance that this bug brings we can all assume it's near the top of the Droid X's software development team's to-do list. More info will be coming, and we'll be sure to keep you updated.

HTC Desire HD ROM Ported to Droid Incredible, Desire, and EVO 4G

Posted: 26 Sep 2010 07:46 AM PDT

Just a few days after the announcement of HTC Desire HD, we heard that the ROM has been extracted. Well we now have a followup of the happenings between then and now. The developers behind the extract have not got it ip and running on the HTC Desire as well as the Droid Incredible and EVO 4G. They are still not perfect, missing camera support, WiFi and 4G, but they are definitely a start.

There still are present bugs that have not been worked out, however with the speed of this port we can't really expect to wait too long thanks to these Android Developers.

The video below details the Desire HD ROM running, and it's amazing quick boot time of just over 3 seconds.

Notion Ink Adam may come in colors, Further development documented

Posted: 26 Sep 2010 07:34 AM PDT

The Notion Ink Adam tablet has been the hype for quite sometime. With little details of the device throughout it's design and manufacturing stages, we now have word that it may be coming with some color options. Rohan Shravan, of Notion Ink, has updated the official blog, this time we get to hear about the various design choices they had to make as well as hinting that colors may actually be an option.

The long wait for this device has not been easy for some, but the device is really shaping up, and it looks like the wait may just be worth it if we see it soon. One of these interesting details that he covers is the camera having a 185-degree swivel instead of a 180-degree one. The reason for this has to do with how you hold the device and with the extra 5 degrees it can allow you to take photos more comfortably. They have spent a lot of time on these little details and they believe this attention to detail will ultimately be what sets them apart from their competitors.

Camera Swivel Model

The Adam has been through an extensive design process, The "+/_" and power keys alone took upwards of 11 iterations before a decision was made. The photos posted are all renders of the device and not actual produced models. This doesn't give much hope for us wanting to see this tablet soon. However, Shravan does go on to promise that actual photos of the tablet will be available October 9th, straight from the factory.

No confirmation on if colors will be a shipping option, but we do know, at the very least, we will be seeing this tablet ship in the black/gray that we have seen earlier this year, video demo below.

Update Provides Uploading to flickr from Android 2.2 Browser

Posted: 26 Sep 2010 07:02 AM PDT

Flickr announced that you can now upload directly to flickr from your Froyo running Android device, a feature many have been longing for. Until now you have only been able to upload by email which can be troublesome for many.

"If we see that you're coming from an Android 2.2 device, we'll give you an upload link right on the Flickr homepage. This takes you to our mobile upload page where you will now see the option to simply 'Choose a file'. Selecting this button gives you access to your photo gallery, where you can conveniently select the photo you like to upload and then send it to Flickr via the 'Upload' button."

The only problem here is the requirement of 2.2. With many delays in release date and some manufacturers not even giving us word if it's expected only users with newer handsets will be able to do this, others will simply have to continue to email their photos for upload.
