IBC 2010-3D Starts Here with NVIDIA Digital Video Pipeline

Posted: 10 Sep 2010 01:30 AM PDT

NVIDIA (Hall 7, Stand 7.J38) has a major presence again at the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) in Amsterdam, which kicks off today, and runs through Tuesday, September 14th, at the RAI Centre.

On the exhibit floor, we are demonstrating new, breakthrough technologies for 3D broadcasting, leveraging the Quadro Digital Video Pipeline, which incorporates new Quadro graphics processing units (GPUs) based on the NVIDIA Fermi architecture.  The new Quadro lineup delivers enhanced graphics processing and visual effects simulation, with performance that is up to five times faster for 3D applications1. The Digital Video Pipeline integrates live action 3D acquisition, real-time 3D graphics, 3D encoding, and 3D distribution for home theater or PC based viewing – all accelerated by graphics processing units, or GPUs, from the company that invented the GPU in 1999.

In addition, an impressive roster of more than 30 exhibitors at IBC 2010 are featuring NVIDIA Quadro professional graphics solutions and the NVIDIA CUDA parallel computing architecture. These solutions empower broadcast, film, and new media production pros to improve their workflows and deliver content like they've never done before.

Exhibitors featuring NVIDIA Quadro and CUDA technology at IBC 2010 include:

Tennis Anyone? How about US Open Tennis in 3D!

Posted: 09 Sep 2010 04:46 PM PDT

Get your NVIDIA 3D Vision systems ready for another exclusive live 3D sports production, as the US Open Tennis Championships will be streamed in 3D for the first time on USOpen.org, the official website of the US Open.

You can watch the 3D stream September 11th at 8pm ET, to see the Women's Singles Final and then tune in again for the Men's Singles Final on September 12th at 4pm ET.

Remember, last year's US Open finals? The crowd bore witness to history as 20-year-old Juan Martin del Potro ended the five-year reign of Roger Federer in a five-set thriller on the men's side, and Kim Clijsters made her triumphant return to the Open in a thrilling victory over Caroline Wozniacki. Hopefully we'll experience the same level of excitement this year…in 3D.

Below you will find the system requirements, and please note that this event will be a bit different than prior streams. The US Open stream will be delivered to you through the NVIDIA 3D Vision Video Player (v1.6.4) instead of the Silverlight 3D Vision Player.

To find more information and access the 3D stream, visit here: www.usopen.org/3d
