Silent Update Brings 2.2 Features to Android Market on Eclair devices

Posted: 09 Oct 2010 08:09 PM PDT

Word is on the internet now that users of the Milestone, Vibrant, and Fascinate running android 2.1 with update 1 are receiving a "silent update" which brings them from Android Market 1714 to 2007. With it users are reporting many Froyo features have been added to their Android Market.

Specifically users are reporting that "Update All," Comments being on a separate page, it comes with a widget, and an automatic update checkbox.

As of now the only issue that has risen with this silent update is that users are having problems with their paid apps, while choosing to update them asks for you to initially purchase them (again). Chances are this is just a simple bug, and will be fixed soon.

To all of our 2.1 equipped readers, have you noticed the silent update and it's features? Having any problems? Let us know in the comment section below!

T-Mobile Galaxy Tab: $399 on contract, $649 without

Posted: 09 Oct 2010 07:57 PM PDT

The much hyped Samsung Galaxy Tab, that is coming later this year to the US, has had it's pricing (finally) revealed. According to the screen shot of an internal T-Mobile page, the pricing has been revealed to be $399 on contract, and $649 without.

Now expensive pricing set aside, the only things we do not know about the upcoming tablet is the availability in the US, if this price will remain set across all carriers, or how much we will be paying for data and the plans available.

$399 and $649 is a lot cheaper than we have heard across seas, but it's still competitive with the iPad. Only a little bit more, off contract, it offers users a decent second option if they're not only going after screen size. More details to come with hopefully an official announcement across all carriers.

Sony Ericsson LiveView hits the FCC

Posted: 09 Oct 2010 05:04 PM PDT

Although many do not agree with the Sony Ericsson LiveView and thing it's an unneeded device, many could consider a small iPod Nano like display for their phones a useful thing. Well it looks like the launch date is definitely getting closer with the FCC taking a look at the device this week.

Along with the FCC's hands-on, for reasons other than we're interested in, we get to see more of the device which is surprisingly thick for a device of it’s size, compared to the new iPod Nano at least. But all of the aesthetics aside, the device will let you get all of your phones important information at a glance including incoming calls and messages, emails, and even supports 3rd party app integration.

Needed or not, the Sony Ericsson LiveView is definitely an interesting device. We will see in the coming months if it's a success or a flop.

You can check out the full FCC filing here.
