Posted: 07 Oct 2010 05:10 AM PDT The future iPhone is here or at least in conceptual form. Given that size, design and features need to be drastically innovated, the NOT A Phone – Next Generation iPhone, delves into the projection arena. So basically you strap the next-gen iPhone to your wrist and project the display to your palm. You can figure out rest of the drill from the images, so my question to you today is….are we in for projection screens for phones? Is that the future of phone display, have a basic small screen and project the rest of it? Designer: Samuel Lee Kwon ---------- |
Posted: 07 Oct 2010 04:56 AM PDT The Citrange is a hand squeezer for the citrus fruits in your life. The unique funnel design makes it feel that the juice is going to spill out of the glass; but it does not. The double-grooves design allows you to squeeze the wide (like an orange) to the narrow (like a lime) fruit from either ends of the juicer. I like the fact that a strainer is built-in and the overall procedure cuts back one whole step in juice-squeezing. Ok, I love it! Material: Polypropylene Designer: Quentin de Coster ---------- |
Posted: 07 Oct 2010 04:35 AM PDT The purpose of the Mohock Smart Umbrella is to get rid of disposable bags for carrying wet umbrellas and making sure you don't lose them. The first achieved with a handle redesign, where it's thick and wide enough to take in the dripping water by placing the umbrella upright. And to ensure that you don't forget it anywhere, a unique top attachment has been crafted, so that you can hang it off a table. Love the attractive colors that it comes in, plus the three-fold and two-fold options. One question Mr. Designer….when can I buy one?

Yanko Design @ FEED And Valencia Design Week Posted: 07 Oct 2010 03:09 AM PDT It's an honor for Yanko Design to be considered as one of the most influential modern design sites, and be invited to the most happening events across the globe; FEED (First International Design Media and Bloggers Meeting) at the Valencia Design Week being one of them. While we partied hard with the hosts, designers and contemporaries, we also indulged in some serious design discussions and got insights to various streams of arts, designing and ceramics. Leaving aside the drama (we got pick pocketed) and the jet-lag (18-hour flight), overall we had a wonderful experience. Here is a compilation of all the fun stuff that our trigger-happy camera managed to capture. ---------- |
Posted: 07 Oct 2010 12:10 AM PDT Recon lets us know that this pair of goggles right here, “Transcend,” is the only pair in the world that provides you with real-time feedback including speed, latitude/longitude, altitude, vertical distance traveled, total distance travelled, chrono/stopwatch mode, a run-counter, temperature and time. Transcend has GPS capabilities, USB charging and data transfer, and post-processing software all with a super easy-to-use, futuristic interface. Recon hints to us that soon there may be an open API app development and download community – with apps! Everyone loves apps, right? Applications for you to see everything you like through your new Transcend goggles. There’s two models – Transcend SPPX, which is fitted with an SPPX polarized and photochromic lens, and the Transcend SPX which just features an SPX polarized lens. Both rock. Both roll. Hopefully you wont roll though when you’re skiing with them. The Zeal Optics frame design shows the user info on a micro LCD screen which appears to hang six feet in front of them. Glove-friendly buttons help the user navigate the full-color dashboard and screens. Using the application Recon HQ (which comes free with the goggles) you can upload and track info about your ski sessions instantly. That means contests, real-time sharing, and all sorts of other wacky new-world situations. Accelerometer, gyroscope, temperature and pressure sensors. GPS chip, micro LCD display, and 3-dimensional lens. Hardcore wild goggles. Designer: Recon Instruments ---------- |
Posted: 07 Oct 2010 12:04 AM PDT Finally there is an elegant clock that tells time around the entire world at once. Finally I can look and say – oh, I know what time it is for Takashi, oh, I know that Radhika is probably eating pizza right now, oh, my other co-workers are more than likely on their way to the movies. Oh, this amazing clock tells me everything around the world. This is the “Bend Hand,” designed by Giha Woo, intended to tell the time around the world with a simple analog clock arm – one that’s bent. Look at the simplicity and marvel over the excellence and nice blue color. Each city on the clock is represented by the dot on the hand. For example: London is furthest out from the center, so the dot at the end of the arm is the one you want to look at to find out which hour it is. Wellington is also furthest out, so it’s the same time, but while London is in the AM, Wellington is in the PM. Woo wants us to think thusly: "Although the world exists in different time zones, we’re always moving together without pause.” What a lovely message from such a genius designer. Woo ha! Giha’s got you all in check. Designer: Giha Woo ---------- |
Posted: 07 Oct 2010 12:02 AM PDT This is a ring of metal like you’ve never seen before. It’s made of six modular pieces of military spec G5 aerospace grade titanium. It’s precision cut by a 5-axis state-of-the-art machine never before used for fine jewelry. Each of the little bits is off-axis bolted to the next – the process from cut to bolt takes 10 hours each. The materials and the process guarantee the ring will be around for centuries. Born of the most wild and fine-quality elite thinking environment. This ring is known as “Revolver” and it comes from RogueDNZ, a line of ultra-fine jewelry created by Matthew G Tremblay. Each piece of jewelry in this set goes above in beyond in at least one way, in most cases in quite a few ways. All are elite. Watch the video below to see how epic this ring truly is, then get your pocketbooks out to buy one ($4,8000.) NOTE: I saw a bad-biker dude today with matte black shells and helmet -he’d go right with this ring like nail to wood, like rock to sand, like hair to heavy metal. Designer: RogueDZN ---------- |
