Convex Soap Into Concave Soap Makes Everlasting Soap!

Posted: 22 Oct 2010 02:31 AM PDT

Too much use of the word soap, but that's exactly how this concept works. The Frugal Soap has one aim, to use every bit of the soap at hand. So instead of coming up with solutions like the Re-Bubble Dispenser or the Soap Bank, where you need to device more objects to make one plan work, Ji Woong Kim has simply re-designed the soap-cake! A convex bottom and concave top is his solution. So when you're down to your last bit of soap, just smudge it into the concave part of a new soap, and the two become one whole new soap! The design is such that the last slither and a new cake complement and merge together. Nice idea!

Bottle So Beautiful And Full Of Light!

Posted: 22 Oct 2010 01:00 AM PDT

Bottle Light: the concept is simple, instead of trashing an empty PET Bottle, squish it properly and screw it onto the modular aluminum LED enclosure! Normally we just end up discarding the bottle, but using it in this manner; we can get vivid shapes and refracted colors for lights. I know this idea will click in theme restaurants that are eco-centric. Not much costs involved since you need to invest only in a couple of those LED lights and holders.

The Bottle Light won a Liteon Award this year!

Seat of the Mummy

Posted: 22 Oct 2010 12:10 AM PDT

If you thought a bed and a stool were the wildest Noga Berman was going to get with the Tunnels collection of furniture, you’re about to be all wrapped up. This chair is the third bit of Tunnels – Encompassing Furniture we’re about to show you, the rest can be found by clicking Berman’s name below this post. This chair is the most radical one yet, in my opinion, as it can flip in more than one direction and can hide a whole person while another person sits on top.

Wild, wacky, and really quite functional. That’s exactly the kind of stuff I like to report on. Berman’s got it! This and the rest of the bits of Tunnels furniture are created by either bending metal tubes or etching wood, then wrapping elastic bands around, closing with velcro.

A Table to Sit In

Posted: 22 Oct 2010 12:03 AM PDT

The designers at UNStudio, those folks who design football stadiums, have released this lovely weird new table. It’s got a place to sit, right inside of it. It’s called SitTable and it’s designed for PROOFF. Made to make the table more than just a component, instead turning this one piece of furniture into a place to lounge, meet with other people, converse, or just have a nice book reading. Two color combinations for everyone’s pleasure.

It’s a hybrid that offers itself up as a completely singular option for multiple situations, including waiting rooms, office meeting rooms, or if you’re planning on making an awesome funhouse like me, your Dungeons and Dragons room. Dungeon Master gets the head seat!

Materials/dimensions:
SitTable Type 1 (pictured):
tabletop: wood veneer, dark oak A32 – Morado
fabric seat: Divina 462 ( mustard yellow )
frame: steel C3, Anthraciet Grey
l x w x h: 3800 x 1750 x 750mm.

SitTable Type 2 (pictured):

Sphere of Dry Shoes

Posted: 22 Oct 2010 12:02 AM PDT

Of all the footwear dryers in the world, boy oh boy, this seems to me to be the best one I’ve seen all year. I don’t have that much experience with shoe thawers or dryers, but I do remember putting my boots on the heater when I was a kid to dry off all the snow. That I remember. I also remember that when they were put on the heater, they’d get mostly dry, but there’d always be that little pocket of squish left over. Nasty. This “Orbicle” we’re talking about here has no squish.

Designer Seo Jin Hyeon informs us that most of the shoe dryers in the world are basically unhygienic. I believe it! Shoes can get pretty nasty, especially if they’re getting wet all the time. Fungus grows in there down by your toes, and that’s gross. With this shoe dryer by the name of Orbicle, you can check on your shoes as they dry from the inside out. Get yourself either the single sphere or the triple threat!

I bet the big one’s for people who’ve got a daycare with lots of kids who get into the snow on a regular basis.
