Posted: 06 Nov 2010 07:46 AM PDT

With the Samsung Galaxy Tab looking to make its US debut on all major carriers coming up, its not a surprise that the Canada release will follow closely after. According to the picture below, the official launch date for the Samsung Galaxy Tab is November 12.

Bell says they will be providing “Canada's best network" with their HSPA+ network for your on the go wireless connectivity on top of your normal Wi-Fi connection. The tablet will be SMS capable for paid subscribers. We have no word on any pre-order or online reservation possibilities yet, but we will keep you updated if we find anything new out. iPad, get ready for some big competition from the Galaxy Tab, which looks to make its North American invasion day on November 12, with the Canadian users guaranteed to get their slice of the Galaxy Tab pie as well.

First impressions of the Motorola DEFY

Posted: 05 Nov 2010 04:42 PM PDT

The Motorola DEFY is being advertised as the phone that can handle anything your life throws at it. Yesterday, we threw it into a pool- and it survived. We saw it sink to the bottom of a swimming pool while it was filming with it’s onboard camera- pretty impressive. With a little more time with the device we are able to share some of our first impressions.

Proving to be an impressive device with it’s 3.7-inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen with Gorilla Glass, 5 MP camera, WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPS it’s definitely a solid option for any Android fan. Built on top of Android 2.1 it is equipped with the latest MOTOBLUR which brings enhanced social network integration.

Our initial impressions prove that the phone is a very solid device. A little bit of extra heft comes from the rugged nature of the phone but it’s nothing too serious. It’s overall pretty fast, as well. With 2GB of ROM and an 800MHz TI OMAP3610 we feel that it gets the job done, but it’s a bit lackluster compared to some HTC phones shipping with the second-gen Qualcomm chips.

You can pick up your own Motorola DEFY starting this week. With a two-year contract the phone is at a ridiculously reasonable price of $99.99. Expect our full review of the device coming here shortly.

Check out the PlayStation Phone knock off

Posted: 05 Nov 2010 03:19 PM PDT

These KIRF(Keepin’ it real fake) phones show up all the time in the gadget markets in Shenzen, China. This one happens to take our interest since it closely resembles the rumored PlayStation Phone. It surprisingly doesn’t stray too far from the original.

This knock off phone comes with a 3.5-inch touchscreen, front and rear facing cameras(.3 megapixel), dual SIM card slots, Java support, 3.5 mm audio jack and a mini-USB port. This bad boy even comes equipped with a NES emulator to try to make it look more legit. According to the picture above, the phone is running Android OS, but it is probably not and some unknown OS. This knock-off even comes with a name as well; the Unmei Q5. Its not too shabby for a knockoff features wise, and it looks good too. We can only hope that the final PlayStation Phone looks as good as this, the knock off is available in the gadget markets in Shenzen for 399 yuan or about $60.

HTC Desire HD coming to Canada for Telus Users?

Posted: 05 Nov 2010 01:28 PM PDT

As many of you know, the HTC Desire HD was recently released to the European markets. Well some more info on this giant device has popped up. The guys over at CellGuru were on the HTC Sense website for Canadian users and while registering their HTC Desire Z, found the HTC Desire HD hanging out under the phones category.

The Desire HD’s cousin, the Desire Z, was recently released for canadian users on Bell. Since Telus and Bell sort of switch off high-end android devices, the Desire Hd is expected to head to Telus. Keep in mind that this isn’t yet confirmed and only based on the image shown above. The Desire HD features a 4.3-inch screen, 8GB camera with led flash, and runs Android OS 2.2 or commonly known as Froyo. We will keep you updated on the status of this device and let us know your opinion below.

WiFi Only Galaxy Tab Delayed until after the holidays

Posted: 05 Nov 2010 11:22 AM PDT

We first heard about the WiFi only Galaxy Tab a few months back. Being the perfect option for many who do not want to be tied to a carrier and are willing to pay a higher price, it made many people excited. However, since then, things have changed a bit. It looks as if the rumors were true, the Galaxy Tab WiFi only will be delayed past this years holiday season.

In a bold business move Verizon also has some interesting plans for the Galaxy Tab. It seems as if, on top of the $599 price tag, you will be required to purchase a month-to-month data plan when you buy the device. Requiring activation at the time of purchase a user could simply cancel the month plan immediately after purchase, but still- it’s required to be able to get one in the first place.
