Socialize With Me Here

Posted: 01 Nov 2010 12:49 AM PDT

It’s called the Habitbox. Its form is designed to encourage socialization behaviors a.k.a. it’s a cool place to chill – a hang out spot. Not quite sure if those surfaces are hard or soft but I know I rather sit in one of these things than a park with grass where ants poop. Yeah, I said it. Ants do poop. Same reason I don’t like swimming in the ocean. Whales poop too.

Home and Personal Radiator

Posted: 01 Nov 2010 12:34 AM PDT

I would appreciate this more if I lived in a colder climate but I still want it!. The Akopo is a new kind of radiator system made from PVC, refractory stone and ceramic. I say “new kind” because the main body not only radiates heat like a traditional unit, but also warms up detachable modules made of PVC elastomer and ceramic. They’re safe to use and incredibly flexible. Sometimes you don’t need to heat up the whole house. You just want to warm yourself up.

Iron None More Black

Posted: 01 Nov 2010 12:13 AM PDT

This is the most metal iron for clothing you will ever find in the world. You can use it for ironing, then, if there’s a zombie apocalypse, you can stab the heck out of some undead skulls with it just as easy. This is A Menës Iron by Nico Kläber. This project is made for men, men who are ashamed of using a regular white iron because they are afraid of being called a sissy. Truly they will be the most masculine of flat-clothing men now.

And as a bonus, the iron surface can be the regular large size or a tinier one for those smaller shirt sleeves. Just flick the lever and you’ve got that smaller, cuter surface, you man.

Maniacal Webbed Metal

Posted: 01 Nov 2010 12:02 AM PDT

Based on a 1995 NASA experiment in which spiders were exposed to various chemicals then were tested based on the patterns of webs they spun. Fun! This project goes by the name SOD_Project and is a three-dimensional re-addressing of the webs these bonked-out spiders spun, but this time in metal. Each of these objects seems to be created as a sort of art-objects, but I bet you could put your apples in there too.

Take a look at each of the patterns made in the chart of 5: Normal, Marijuana, Benzedrine, Cafeine, and Chloral Hydrate, and see the transition into metal here in these bits of project. Read these descriptions of each of the chemical reactions as provided by the designer:

The normal web (sober spider) is a dense and regular pattern. The design of the web, made of concentric circles and diagonals, seems to be governed by a general idea.

Marijuana affects concentration of the spider. Parts of the web, especially toward the outside, so late in the making of the web, are incomplete or missing.

Benzedrine, stimulating substance, causes great excitement among the spider. It works hard to weave his web but his haste causes significant omissions in the construction.

Caffeine greatly disturbs the spider which is no longer capable of doing anything other than a fully heterogeneous and disorderly web.

Chloral hydrate, sedative substance, slows down the actions of the spider. It fells asleep quickly without completing the making of the web. That explains the very brief appearance of this one.

Wild stuff.

Working on Making Locks Lovely

Posted: 01 Nov 2010 12:01 AM PDT

Behold powder-coated steel locks for interior doors and sliding doors: Comfortable Discomforts: Decorative Interior Design Locks. What a mouthful. You’ll be fine taking the time to say it though in total ease of mind as these locks rock. These particular locks focus on reshaping your way of thinking about traditional home security. Instead of barricading because of fear with multiple security appendages. Instead, Comfortable Discomforts aims to visually integrate.

Objects in this collection often serve dual purposes: visually intriguing objects, beautiful, comfortable, whimsical, fragile, or unexpected cover and integrate with traits of utility, protection, strength, dependence, security, value and peace of mind. Excellent way of thinking. One love. Take a look at the gallery for examples.
