NVIDIA Project Inspire: Personal Perspective from Ujesh Desai

Ed. Note: This is the second of three personal views of our annual holiday volunteerism event, Project Inspire, where employees and their families help transform an undeserved school, park or neighborhood center. This year's event for our Santa Clara office takes place Saturday, Dec. 11.

It's that time of the year again – the holidays.  For my family it's really hectic. Not only do we have Thanksgiving and Christmas, but we have both my daughters birthdays as well. Combine that with dance recitals, school events, and family coming into town and you kind of get a picture of how crazy things are at our house.

That said, participating in charitable events is something we always take time to do because we believe it's important to try and make a difference in someone's life and we want to teach our daughters the true spirit of the holiday season – giving.  Project Inspire is an event my family and I have participated in over the years and we absolutely love it.  Last year, we helped completely remodel a school.  My wife, my two daughters and I were in charge of painting the outside of several buildings.  It was a long, exhausting day but it was immensely satisfying.

This year we're helping design and build a community garden, constructing a large greenhouse that will serve as a hands-on science lab for thousands of kids, and helping renovate a historic park and surrounding buildings.  I'm sure it's going to be a day of back-breaking labor, but also lots of laughter, fun and time for my whole family to bond.   No matter how crazy things get over the holidays, my family and I will always make time for Project Inspire.
