Replaceable Earphones

Posted: 02 Dec 2010 03:38 AM PST

DIY is a set of earphones that is very smart. Each and every wire in this set is detachable and hooks up to a central module. This means the left earbud, right earbud, central module and line out are all independent and replaceable when busted. The central module works as a remote control for the player and features basic functions like volume, play and stop. This module is proposed to come in two modes: basic and Bluetooth. Obviously the Bluetooth one connects to the player wirelessly!

The story doesn't stop here; the earbuds are such that you can hook up two separate sets to the central module so that two people can hear the show!

How awesome!

Virus Beware, The Spuit Is Here

Posted: 02 Dec 2010 03:17 AM PST

There are two sides to a coin, on one side we have groovy gadgets and on the other we have hidden malware and virus to spoil our fun. To combat it we resort to many protective gears and a futuristic attempt is the Virus Spuit. This handy vaccine device is capable of detecting and removing virus in devices like a Portable Hard Disk. It even features the intuitive action of a syringe that draws in or releases liquid, to extract the malicious content.

Virus Spuit is a 2010 Red Dot Concept Design winning entry.

This Phone Hovers in Space

Posted: 02 Dec 2010 12:10 AM PST

Oh so you’re not satisfied with phones that connect at speeds almost as fast as you can click and hundreds of new applications that do everything under the sun each day? Well here’s something new for you then! It’s a concept design done by two industrious folks In-oh Yoo and Sun-woong Oh who want nothing more than to bring you a phone that spins in mid-air. This phone works in tangent with its charging cradle, its cradle, the phone and magnets creating a space where the phone spins while charging, creating a unique aesthetic experience.

First, the phone itself has a sleek candybar design you should all be relatively familiar with. The iPhone and a slew of Android-based phones look right along these lines, and this looks fabulous. Hollow parts at the top and bottom of the phone “ensure that it is being charged wirelessly” though how that’s accomplished appears to be a trade secret. The phone is thin, streamlined, and made to fit naturally in the palm of your hand.

Once the phone is placed in its cradle, the magnets inside begin to do their work. Once charging begins, the magnetic stick is puled away from the column and the phone floats. As the phone begins to float, the screen of the phone turns to a pre-selected screen of the users choice, one of several scenes: water gradually rising or falling or blue sand in an hourglass, for example. As most cellphones are charged at night, a dim light is emitted from the back of the charge unit for a unique atmosphere (and a simple way for you to be able to find the phone if you’ve got to get to it in the dark.)

When a call comes in, things get REAL interesting. Magnets on the bottom of the cradle activate, forcing the phone to rotate. Text and icon activation on the screen of the phone appear three-dimensional “due to an after-image effect.” This situation also occurs upon receiving a text message or your alarm clock rings. The designers of this project aim for this effect to convey vibrancy which cannot be experienced with a static screen, and vitality through animated graphics on the screen as the phone rotates as well.

What a wild and wacky and fantastical concept!

Emergency Exits of Splendor

Posted: 02 Dec 2010 12:07 AM PST

Many gigantic cities in this modern wonderful world of ours have underground transit. Under the ground you’ll find tunnels with trains galore, traveling all around the city and sometimes even under great bodies of water. Required with these underground tubes are emergency exits where people can easily escape or simply walk up in an orderly manner. What Paul Raff Studio and IBI Group Architects have here in Toronto Canada is a series of emergency exits with lovely style: FOLLIES, for your pleasure.

Each of these four designs are shown in the light and in the dark – showing how fabulous they show themselves to be during all times of the day. Each of these pieces of architecture aims to make a positive impact on the city they sit in, attempting to “integrate life safety requirements within a strategy that also addresses issues of human scale, context, and beauty.”

The exterior of each building is made up of colored multi-layered glass with a subtle artistic essence that’s passed on to each passerby. Glass employed on each of these buildings is strong enough to withstand a hammer blow. Each building here is made to not only reflect the designers wish to live inside a human society, but also to live inside the aesthetic context in where they specifically sit.

Architectural Finger Bands

Posted: 02 Dec 2010 12:03 AM PST

This is a bit of jewelry from the school of thought that revolves away from the stacked minds inside the stuck in the mud world or normalcy. That’s right! These are jewelers who like to create objects of majesty outside the norm, inside the realm of oddity and excellence. These rings go by the name Mirador, each of them modeled after the geometry found in the city of Barcelona. Several different versions for your pleasure.

You can pick all of these lovely lovers up from the story from whens these designers came: SupermarketHQ – the designers go by the name Bandana. Look for them in the future and in the past for some fantabulous works of design art.
