Video of the week: Angry Birds the board game launches onto our wishlist

Angry Birds is soon coming to a household near you. In board game fashion. Hidden amongst the tech truffles at CES 2011 was this bird-flinging four player toy recreation of the highly popular Angry Birds mobile game. It’s called Angry Birds Knock on Wood, and won’t reach shops till May 2011. See it in action here, in our video of the week.

Angry Birds Knock On Wood is the offspring of toy maker Mattel, and Angry Birds game developer, Rovio. Players take it in turns to flip cards, before being tasked with building the pig fortress displayed for the other player to topple over.

Each structure is worth a certain number of points. The first to 1,000 points is hailed Angry Birds Knock On Wood victor. But don’t think that this will be the end of Angry Birds toys. Mattel will be showing off a new card game at the New York Toy Fair from 13-16 February 2011. Check it out:
