Video of the week: The Kinect-filmed music video

Not all Microsoft Kinect hacks feature robots and flying things. Indie band – Echo Lake has used Microsoft’s body motion-sensing camera to film their latest music video, with impressive results. Read on for a watch and a listen.

As unexpected uses for Microsoft Kinect go, using it to film a music video is right up there. The video for Young Silence, by Echo Lake is given an almost eerie feel by the ability of Microsoft Kinect to capture silhouetted folk in its field of vision.

Here, together with some help from custom software, the music video you see below has an almost ghostly look about it. Like those spook sightings you hear about in the tabloids.

Even if the music isn’t your thing, it’s still a neat video. Take a look for yourselves:
