Cascading Water Tap Reminds Me of Bamboo Posted: 23 May 2011 08:56 AM PDT The Bamboo Fountain faucet takes inspiration from the natural Asian and looks like a bamboo stem. The water intentionally flows as a slow gurgling fall to minimize wastage. The water flow can be fortified with dietary elements like Calcium, Iron, and Potassium using special cartridges. I think this is a good idea for counties where it is safe to drink out of tap water. Temperature control and touch sensitive display round off the features. Designer: Mickaël Chrost ---------- |
Posted: 23 May 2011 08:56 AM PDT E-Stick is a unique guide stick for the sight impaired. It has a touch sensitive and interactive system to make commuting easy and comfortable. It features an SD-Card slot from where in one can load maps to the stick. Basically it beams out guided turn-by-turn directions for the user via an earpiece that hooks up wirelessly, I'm assuming its Bluetooth enabled. So once the map is loaded and the destination keyed in, you just follow the guided instructions, so simple! E-Touch is a Lotus Prize winning entry. Designers: Messizon Li & Fan Yang ---------- |
Posted: 23 May 2011 08:56 AM PDT Love me a good cup of tea but when you’re own the go and need something quick, but still fresh, investing in something like the T-EASY can be a Godsend. No, not the rapture kind but still glorious (I’m still alive). It has an 8 cup capacity, demarcated so you’ll know how many tea leaves to uses per cup of water. The only flaw I see is not all teas will fit within that 1:1 ratio. For example, floral teas are very light, therefor needing more leaves/flowers per cup for water. The product is made out of a unibody piece which is first cut from chrome stainless sheet metal and then bent. Therefore it does not need an extra process for assembly. For the transparent container, polypropylene (PP) is used, while again PP is used for the remaining plastic parts. All plastic parts are produced with injection moulding. Posted: 23 May 2011 08:50 AM PDT SchultzeWORKS designstudio is proud to announce a breakthrough in robot design. Commissioned by RoboDynamics of Santa Monica, CA, 'Luna' is the world's first personal robot integrating three unique feature sets : Luna is completely expandable via expansion ports, fully programmable with open standards and, above all, affordable. The industrial design work for Luna addressed dual and conflicting demands between design and engineering. The engineering challenge was to incorporate the client's existing and proven TiLR robot hardware, firmware, and drive train. The design challenge was to create an original and compelling techno-beauty that would engage users and invite interaction. Designer: SchultzeWORKS ---------- |
Posted: 23 May 2011 12:20 AM PDT Gotta love the craftsmanship of this woodwork! Los Tres Juanes’ dedication to the perfection of their signature woodwork shines in their Mudejar art inspired coffered ceilings. The dominant characteristics of the art emerge conspicuously in the ornamental panels which form a series of geometrical shapes made of finely intertwined wood. The intricate pieces are unsurpassed in sophistication but the design team has maximized time efficiency while maintaining attention to detail by streamlining their custom production process. Posted: 23 May 2011 12:01 AM PDT Pepe Heykoop’s Skin Collection of furniture is a response to the excessive 25-30% of leather waste produced by the furniture industry each year. The leftover scraps of material are hand stitched in seemingly random patterns over recycled old furniture, producing a revitalized skin for objects that would otherwise become unused. Each piece of furniture is unique and the scraps very in size, color, and texture, ensuring that no two designs are exactly alike. Designer: Pepe Heykoop ---------- |
Posted: 23 May 2011 12:01 AM PDT Unlike the conventional quad, the TrakRok all-terrain trike concept features an independent track system similar to that of a snowmobile. High powered electric motors propel the segmented rubber track plates, enabling maximum traction in both the mud & snow. The system is powered by renewable energy using hydrogen fuel cell technology & the hard yet lightweight ribbed exoskeleton is composed of anodized aluminum to protect the internal components from the harshest of seasonal conditions.
