PayPal Offers NFC Money Transfer Exclusively to Android Users

Posted: 13 Jul 2011 11:36 AM PDT

The online banking group known as PayPal, in an epic and awesome move in the direction of all the green folk of the world, have today announced that they’d be offering a peer-to-peer NFC money transfer solution to Android users exclusively. This functionality will, as you may have guessed, be working with an App on the Nexus S first, and it’s really quite simple – tap those phones together, get a “buzz”, and you’re done.

Of course there’s some permissions in there too, but it’s intensely simple. Just hit your PayPal widget, enter an amount, and tap phones with your friend. If you’ve done this right so far, you’ll feel some haptic feedback – aka a “buzz” on your device, and you’re nearly there! All that’s got to happen now is the person receiving the money tapping the “OK” button. Transfers happen instantly, the same way they would if you were sending PayPal money from one account to another online. Simple! You’re also able to, conversely, request money from that same friend, tap phones, and upon accepting the transfer with one more button press, you’ll have that cash!

We’ve had a bit of a conversation with the folks at PayPal about this, and they’re certainly ready to work with Android users exclusively, as they know the power of the Android community, valuing not only their physical numbers (there’s a whole heck of a lot of us!) but our feedback as well. Android users want things that work, and when there’s a function they’d like to use, they’ll stop at nothing to get developers to make it happen!

That said, this functionality is already in the world, will be release later this summer, and will have a sweet little widget that’ll make you want to transfer money just for the fun of it – fabulous! Also on the BUZZ tip: upon finding the no-nothing response of NFC as it stands alone to be rather nude, the PayPal developer team decided to add a little bit of action to make the whole process more physical. Bump, buzz, and chi-ching!

Take a look at the demonstration video above and get pumped up, PayPaling’s about to get a whole lot easier and a whole lot more fun for Android!

Reminder: Rooted Devices Can’t Watch Rented Movies with New Market

Posted: 13 Jul 2011 11:33 AM PDT

Yesterday Google unveiled the new Android Market and just about as quickly as we all heard the news, it was leaked to the interwebs and we all jumped on it and tested out the new Market. If you’ve yet to try the new market download it here. It brought some exciting new things such as movie and book rentals as well as a fresh new user interface. In case you forgot though, this is a reminder that rooted devices cannot watch rented movies so don’t waste your money.

If you are rooted and rent a movie the purchase will go through, you WILL be charged, and you will be greeted with the above error.

Android 2.2 and 2.3 devices can now rent and watch movies right on their Android phones but sadly many users are getting a screen similar to the image posted above. Thanks to @androidbruce for that shot and for wasting his $3.99 instead of me. Just like when the Motorola Xoom got the movie rental application if you are using a rooted device, you will be able to run the Videos app but won’t be able to play any movies through it.

What that means is you load the app, choose the movie you want and PAY for it, yet you can’t watch it and then you just lost your dollars worth. Again this is only on rooted devices, if you are not rooted you can watch all the movies your heart desires. We did a hands-on review and rented what I’d consider a classic and that was Space Jam. Everything worked great and so far we really love the new Android Market. This was just an update for anyone installing it today that might be rooted.

For now users are being directed to the support forum where you can request a refund. Sadly I wish this wasn’t an issue but I understand they must protect the films from being pirated or whatever else. I have a feeling the developer community will find a work around for this now that everyone will have access to rentals soon.

Motorola Droid X2 Gets Bootstrap and Clockwork Recovery

Posted: 13 Jul 2011 10:52 AM PDT

This is still very much in the early stages so before you run over and give this a try make sure you read over the forum and what other users are reporting. According to our sources the Motorola Droid X2 has already got a working clockworkmod recovery thanks to the old bootstrap trick by Koush. Just like the original Droid X. This bootstrap app was found in what might be a random chinese forum but users are reporting it working great and some have already made backups of the stock rom and are ready to try new things.

I’ve been reading through a few posts over on XDA and most users are getting this to work relatively easy, but that is only for those that already know what they are doing of course. Motorola and their bootloaders are an entire different story but this method originally designed for the Atrix seems to be working fine for the Droid X2 as well.

Along with the bootstrap app they are reporting a custom rom you can flash if you are feeling on the edge this afternoon. This is still new and a work in progress but things should start speeding up now they have a working recovery and can back-up and restore with ease. Hopefully the Droid X2 gets some custom roms like CM7 soon just like the Droid X recently received. Check out the source link and feel free to ask questions over at XDA if you are feeling a little worried before attempting this.

Cisco Cius Tablet Heads to Verizon Packing 4G LTE

Posted: 13 Jul 2011 10:40 AM PDT

We have seen the Cisco Cius Tablet a few times in the recent past. It has been coming in and out of the news and you can see our latest report here. This is an enterprise level tablet that is headed to AT&T and now reports are showing it will receive some Verizon 4G LTE love too.

With the power of 4G LTE and the Cisco Cius Tablet Verizon aims to improve mobile enterprise solutions in the tablet market. the Cius packs a 1.6 Ghz Intel Atom processor, 32GB storage and has a front facing camera capable of 720p centered around video and chat conferencing for business users. It may not be a Samsung Galaxy Tab with 4G but for business and enterprise users needing something slim, fast and capable for doing conference calls and meetings this might just be perfect.

It may not be a top-tier tablet but considering what is already on the market like the iPad, Motorola Xoom, Transformer and more the Cisco Cius tablet is aiming for something entirely different. You will still be able to play games or get your Angry Birds fix, but this will be aimed right at serious business users that don’t need all those other bells and whistles. The tablet will be available later this summer but pricing and more details have yet to emerge.

Verizon Combines the Power of 4G LTE with the Cisco Cius Tablet to Improve Mobile Enterprise Collaboration
Helps Businesses Employ Tablets for Industry-Specific Applications

NEW YORK, July 13, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — The ancient Greeks relied on them. So did Moses when it came to accomplishing one of his most significant deliverables. And now businesses are equipping mobile workforces with tablets of their own to boost productivity and speed customer service.

To meet this newest trend in tablet use, Verizon is combining the power of its 4G LTE network with the Cisco Cius™ to help customers decentralize and accelerate decision-making for better business outcomes.

The Cisco Cius will be available to Verizon enterprise and government customers around the world later this summer, and those located domestically will be able to combine the device with a Verizon Wireless 4G LTE mobile hot spot. Designed for the enterprise, the Android-based Cisco Cius combines voice, video, collaboration and virtualization capabilities on one device. When powered by Verizon's 4G LTE network, mobile workers will be able to easily use bandwidth-intensive video applications – including between devices – for more effective collaboration.

"Mobile applications over intelligent high-speed networks will continue to eliminate barriers in the workplace," said Mike Smith, vice president for Verizon enterprise communications, network and mobility sales. "We're forecasting a perfect storm where advanced enterprise tools such as the Cisco Cius mesh with the speeds made possible by 4G LTE to make the virtual office a more robust reality than ever."

Putting Tablets to Work

In general, industries such as retail, financial services, healthcare and government can employ tablets to change the pace of their business.

Retail: Sales associates can employ tablets while out on the floor to look up product and inventory information for customers, in addition to processing transactions on the spot.
Financial Services: Bankers and financial advisors can take advantage of the video capabilities of tablets for face-to-face meetings with clients, saving the time it takes to meet up at physical locations.
Health care: Medical professionals can use tablets to collaborate on patient care and speed critical decision-making.
Government: Tablets can increase productivity of government users – from military to civilian government field workers to emergency first responders – allowing them to enter information or share it quickly with remote offices to complete the business of government more efficiently.

Through Verizon's Managed Mobility portfolio, enterprise customers can securely deploy a wide range of devices to employees. Capabilities include device management; expense tracking management; lock and wipe features for protecting sensitive data; and mobile delivery of popular business and consumer apps from the cloud. In addition, the company offers a full suite of professional services to help organizations create policies and design mobility programs to suit varied requirements.

Virgin Mobile Updates Beyond Talk Plans, Unlimited Everything for Only $55

Posted: 13 Jul 2011 10:21 AM PDT

Virgin Mobile is changing their Beyond Talk Plans as of late. One way to nudge subscribers into higher priced plans is to slightly raise the price of your main plans, but then lower the cost of the unlimited everything option. That is exactly what Virgin Mobile has just done, although some might not be happy that unlimited everything plan for only $55 sounds like a pretty great deal.

With the cheaper options getting nudged in the wrong direction at least the unlimited plans is saving users money. What they have is unlimited data/text plans for Android with three options as far as voice minutes. Below is a simple look at the changes.

Beyond Talk Plan Changes:

Unlimited Data/Text with 300 minutes $25 – Will increase to $35
Unlimited Data/Text with 1200 minutes $40 – Will increase to $45

Unlimited Everything $60 will drop to only $55

The photo above is a view of the new plans set to roll out starting July 20th. The photo below is the old plans just for a visual comparison. Don’t get too excited as we have some news regarding these “unlimited” plans below.

I would mention that the $55 unlimited everything plan is a great buy (and it still is) because of Virgin having no data caps but starting in October they plan to add data caps to unlimited plans. Sadly this is the same move AT&T and Verizon have made in the recent past. Virgin aims to reduce data speeds when a customers data usage exceeds 2.5GB in a month. What this means is once you’ve used over 2.5GB of data your speeds will be reduced to snail crawling slow speeds so you can’t use any more of their data. T-Mobile currently do this and it is called data throttling. Virgin does however go on to mention that only 3% of their current users ever exceed 2.5 GB a month so the changes shouldn’t affect most subscribers.

To go along nicely with these new plan offerings they will also be launching the Motorola Triumph come July 19th. A rather simple yet nice android phone running stock vanilla just as Google intended it to be. No contract, unlimited everything and the Motorola Triumph sounds pretty great to me, I might just have to leave T-Mobile.

Developers Can Afford to Wait on iPhone and Develop for Android

Posted: 13 Jul 2011 09:45 AM PDT

The main co-founder of Android, Rich Miner has been talking about the developer side of Android as of late and it looks like over the past 6-8 months the amount of growth on the platform is giving him the confidence to say things like our above said title. As recent as 6 months ago he was quoted recommending that start-ups focus on the iPhone first and then move to Android, but things have changed.

Rich Miner heads up Google Ventures on the East Coast and was one of the co-founders of Android. With the continued growth of Android and the sheer amount of handsets and opportunity out there for developers the above statement has clearly flipped sides. He was on stage at MobileBurn 2011 this week and had some interesting comments regarding developing for Android.

Miner goes on to mention that Android was just a slide show presentation and idea when Google first acquired it, but now it has grown into such a huge and open platform with the availability for start-up developers to side load applications and test things out to before even sending their apps to the market. This gives developers, especially start-up devs the opportunity to fully test and refine their ideas and applications before they hit the streets.

He talked about a few other numbers and developing for Android, as well as mentioned two other Google Venture investments. It is an interesting read so feel free to head over and check out the full story.

Sony S2 dual screen tablet to get exclusive AT&T data connection

Posted: 13 Jul 2011 07:50 AM PDT

Earlier this month the Sony S2 tablet was spied on video. This is a cool and interesting tablet with a folding design and a pair of 5.5-inch screens that make the display larger than the folded device would hint at. We know the S2 will be coming to market in the coming weeks and AT&T has announced today that it will be the exclusive wireless partner for the S2.

That will mean if you want to get mobile connectivity this side of a WiFi hotspot you will need to buy the data plan from AT&T. AT&T points out that the S2 will be 4G capable. It’s worth noting that by 4G AT&T means its lame HSPA+ network not a real 4G network with LTE tech. the device will also be able to connect to the AT&T WiFi hotspot network.

The picking for the S2 data plans will be announced closer to launch. I wonder if the plans will be discounted and pay as you go like AT&T offers on the iPad. The Sony S2 tablet is expected to sell for about 649 Euros. Are you interested in the S2 or do you prefer a traditional tablet design?

Motorola working on new 10-inch tablet with Ice Cream Sandwich onboard

Posted: 13 Jul 2011 04:33 AM PDT

The Motorola Xoom was thought to be one of the likely contenders to compete with the iPad. While a lot of Android fans have adopted the Xoom, the price and other things have conspired to keep the Xoom from posing a serious challenge to the tablet market leading iPad 2. Motorola is rumored to be at work on a new tablet that has a big 10-inch screen in a 4:3 format.

The coolest thing about the screen is that the rumor claims the resolution is a whopping 2048 x 1536. The rumor about the tablet also claims that it is already in the hands of the final testers before it launches. The tablet is said to use the same thin and light design of the current Xoom tablet and rather than using Gingerbread like current tablets, the new tablet will have Ice Cream Sandwich onboard.

Whether or not the new tablet will be a Xoom braded device we don't know. The tablet is expected by the end of 2011 or early 2012. Hardware is a mystery but with the tie up between Motorola and NVIDIA, the assumption is Tegra 3 will be inside the device.

EA gobbles up Popcap Games for $650M plus

Posted: 13 Jul 2011 04:01 AM PDT

EA has been looking at Popcap for a while now and it has now announced that it will acquire Popcap in a deal that is worth some very big money. EA is plunking down $650 million in cash and then giving up another $100 million in shares of EA common stock to complete the deal. Popcap sellers are also entitled to additional variable cash consideration depending on non-GAAP earnings through December 2013, which is EA’s fiscal Q3.

If the upper end of the performance targets are met EA could end up paying out another $343 million in total. Other than the fees to purchase Popcap, EA will also spend another $50 million in equity retention awards to Popcap employees that will be granted over the next four years. EA hopes to complete the transaction in August.

The closing of the deal is subject to regulatory approvals and other conditions though. EA expects that Popcap will pull its weight pretty fast. The gaming giant has changed non-GAAP revenue guidance to between $3,800 million and $4,025 million to account for Popcap’s inclusion in FY2012. In Q2 of fiscal 2012, the non-GAAP loss due to the acquisition of Popcap will be in the area of $0.15 to $0.05 per share.

Press photo of Sony Ericsson Xperia Duo leaks along with September launch rumor

Posted: 13 Jul 2011 02:44 AM PDT

The last time we caught a glimpse at the Sony Ericsson Xperia Duo smartphone the photo was a little blurry. A new photo of the smartphone has leaked and it appears to be the official press shot of the device. The new photo is much clearer than the previous shot. The Duo will be the top of the line smartphone for SE when it lands.

Along with the new press shot comes a rumor of a September launch date as well. However, there is no official statement from Sony Ericsson to indicate this is true. The Duo has nice specs according to the rumors that are surrounding the handset. It is expected to have a dual-core chipset under the hood with possibilities bring the NovaThor A9500 or U8500 chips or the Qualcomm MSM8260.

The rumor also says that whatever the chipset is inside the device it will run at 1.4GHz. The Duo is also expected to use 1.5GB of RAM and have a 4.5-inch qHD screen. The device will use the Mobile BRAVIA engine and has a 12MP camera. The OS onboard is Gingerbread and the battery is a 2500mAh offering. The original leaked press shot is in the gallery in as large a size as possible you to peruse.

$400 Motorola XOOM tablet is today’s Woot deal

Posted: 13 Jul 2011 01:52 AM PDT

As the first Honeycomb tablet to hit store shelves, the Motorola XOOM perhaps lacks some of the glamor of its more recent Android slate siblings; however, it’s still a solid option as long as the price is right. Woot‘s deal for today is a $399.99 XOOM WiFi, a saving of $100 versus other retailers.

Now, it’s a refurbished unit, not brand new, but we imagine there are plenty of people who will look past that for the sake of $100 left in their pocket. It’s also not the Verizon 3G model, so there’s no WWAN connectivity and no 4G LTE upgrade on the horizon; still, you also don’t commit yourself to a data plan.

In fact the biggest issue might be low-cost rivals. Amazon is currently asking the same price for a brand new Acer Iconia Tab A500, which we reviewed back in April, with similar performance but a metal casing.

ASUS confirms Eee Pad Transformer power fix incoming

Posted: 13 Jul 2011 01:41 AM PDT

ASUS has admitted to an issue with the Eee Pad Transformer‘s power management settings, which could see users of the keyboard dock experience problems with power drain and how well the attachment recharges. According to ASUS, the fault is down to how the company chose to configure the power management around sleep mode; however, there’s also a fix promised.

The exact nature of that fix has not been explained, though ASUS says it will be announcing details “shortly” on how it intends to resolve the situation. Most likely, however, is a firmware update that will change the power management configuration based on the feedback ASUS has received from owners.

“Apologies to anyone who has encountered issues with their Transformer keyboard dock (power drain and charging). The issue is related to the way we configured the device's power management in/out of sleep mode. We will shortly be announcing details on how this will be resolved for our customers” ASUS

Despite the issues, the Eee Pad Transformer has reportedly been a significant sales success. ASUS claimed it was the best-selling Android tablet recently, with the production line unable to keep up with demand for the low-cost Honeycomb slate. More information in our full review.

Android Market 3.0.26 Review and Hands-On

Posted: 12 Jul 2011 10:43 PM PDT

The summer version of the Android Market has been announced! Inside you’ll find a whole new batch of aesthetics surrounding your favorite apps and games AND you’ll have a whole new couple of media types you’ll be able to take advantage of: Movies and Books. This version of the Android Market is 3.0.26 and it was JUST announced earlier today. Below we’ll both show you what’s going on in this version AND we’ll show you where you MIGHT be able to download it for yourself. This is an early release of the app and if you want to use any Movies or eBooks you’ll have to grab a new official version of Google’s Videos and Books apps, already ready to go in the Android Market (whatever version you’ve got) right this minute.

You’ll immediately begin to notice a difference in the market as the regular white and green surroundings have been completely wiped away in favor of a rectangular set of panels that show one app or piece of media each, be it book, movie, app, or game. You’ll see a color coding going on, apps and games both getting green while red goes for Movies and blue for Books. The front page, the main page of the Android Market has a set of four links to those four categories surrounded by shortcuts to apps that’ve been suggested to you by Google. These are apps that have payed Google to be on the front page, make no mistake about that, but they’re good, too!

Movies

If you’re anything like us, you realized immediately that there wouldn’t be too much done with apps in the market here, so you went for the Movies. You’ll see that each movie has a price, this price currently only being for a rental of the movie. Each movie is available to you up to 30 days after you’ve first started watching it (as opposed to the moment you started downloading it.) This part of the Android Market works directly with the official Google app by the name of “Videos.” You’ll need to download the newest version of this app in order to watch these movies.

Once you’ve got a movie downloaded and you open it up, you’ll find that the setup is very similar to the most recent YouTube app setup, with the video above and the information about the movie below, this being while you’re in portrait mode because movies are, for the most part, landscape, thusly it’s landscape mode that you shall be watching your movies in their best form. The first movie we tried to download was Space Jam. Once it’s downloaded, it still needs to you be connected to the internet to watch, buffering included if you’re not connected to a great network, but the quality is quite nice nonetheless.

YouTube much? Then you turn it on it’s side for the win:

Books

Books are listed the same way movies are and the same way apps and games are, in a series of boxes sitting on the front page and in a series of white boxes similar to how they’re still listed on the web-based market for categories and the like. You can still view top selling, still view top free, and can indeed still view by category. Once you download the book and open it up in your Google “Books” app, you’ll find no differences between what you were looking at a week ago and what you’re looking at today, ebooks, text, page turning, the whole big amazingly diverse spiel.

The excitement awaits in the words on the pages!

Apps and Games

You’ll be dealing with, again, a very similar setup here to what you’re already used to for app listings, with a slightly different download and purchase screen as seen below. The portrait mode for listings is, in particular, good, as you’ve got a bar which stays above at all times, search and sharing immediately apparent, lots of room for whatever the developer wants to add to the listing, including preview videos – you’ll see this a lot in Movie listings.

These boxes are big, they’re glorious, and they’re set up really nice for small handset use. Tap away to app purchase glory, it’s fun!

Inside the listings, it’s similar to what we’ve had, but just a bit better.

Hands-On Video

Have a bunch of fun purchasing some apps, don’t forget the Android Community app, and take note that the device we’ve been doing all of this on is the brand new myTouch 4G Slide, a device which completely rocks. We’ve got a big fat hands-on video and we’ve got a full review up now. Check em out!

OH and that place to download this very pre-release market? [Head back over here!]

T-Mobile Launching 4G in 56 Additional Markets

Posted: 12 Jul 2011 09:04 PM PDT

Tonight T-Mobile has just announced that they are once again updating additional markets and expanding the HSPA+ 42Mbps network to 56 new markets. Now many of you will too be able to access the blazing fast speeds of 4G that T-Mobile has to offer. Back in June they had a similar announcement and upgraded tons of markets to 4G, now that list is getting bigger and bigger.

AT&T might still be trying to buy T-Mobile but they aren’t letting up anytime soon. T-Mobile continue to grow and launch blazing fast phones like the Sensation 4G, and now adding even more to 4G I’m thinking they should just buy AT&T (joking). T-Mobile has seen average download speeds approaching 10Mbps with peak speeds of 27Mbps on the T-Mobile Rocket 3.0 laptop stick and slightly lower speeds on their smartphones. See if your city is on the list below.

T-Mobile has continued to grow and expand and they are claiming to have a pretty big reach full of that 4G love, here is what they had to say.

T-Mobile's faster 4G speeds (HSPA+ 42) now reach more than 170 million American's in 152 markets from coast to coast—exceeding T-Mobile's mid-year goal to reach more than 150 million Americans with increased 4G speeds. T-Mobile's nationwide 4G network (HSPA+ 21) currently reaches more than 200 million Americans in more than 190 markets.

With recent 4G phones like the Sensation 4G, Exhibit 4G, and the just announced and already reviewed myTouch 4G Slide, they have just about every angle covered. With a mid-range 4G offering in the Exhibit 4G, or the blazing fast dual-core HTC Sensation 4G you will have plenty of choices. What phone do you want?

LG Thrill 4G From AT&T Hands-On

Posted: 12 Jul 2011 04:44 PM PDT

The release of the AT&T LG Thrill 4G is getting closer and closer. It was recently officially announced back in June but today we are here in NYC at the AT&T event to get some live hands-on video for you guys. You might have already heard of it because the Thrill 4G is actually known as the Optimus 3D outside of the U.S. and we recently reviewed it.

The Optimus 3D (aka LG Thrill 4G) is an impressive device, You’ve got a 4.3-inch 480×800 res display, 1 Ghz dual-core TI OMAP 4430 processor, Android 2.2, and a pair of 5MP cameras on the back. We expect it will get Gingerbread shortly but for now 2.2 will do. It also features glasses-free 3D on that 4.3″ display and that is the headliner here. You can record or playback videos and pictures, and play games all in 3D with no glasses. Without getting into this too much here is the video below:

LG Thrill 4G Hands-on

Watching the video it is pretty hard to make out the 3D because the cameras don’t capture it all that well but the feature sure is neat and looks pretty great for being glasses-free. The technology being used is the same as the EVO 3D we recently reviewed, and the 3D effect is very similar on both devices. Our friends at SlashGear even compared the two and you can see that by clicking here.

Sadly here at the AT&T event they still did not announce a street date, nor a price for the LG Thrill 4G but we expect to be hearing more details very, very soon. Some recent leaks suggest that the Thrill 4G will launch in July but we still don’t have an official date so stay tuned for more information.

Motorola XOOM WiFi 3.2 Update HTJ85B Available for Download

Posted: 12 Jul 2011 03:47 PM PDT

The Motorola Xoom has been in the news a bit this afternoon. First we got word that the Xoom 4G LTE upgrade cleared the FCC and should be coming soon, then we got another treat and that is Android 3.2 Honeycomb is rolling out today.

Along with the Android 3.2 update came some zoom features for apps not destined for the larger screen, as well as MicroSD support (finally) and a few other new features we still are waiting to try out. Our friends over at Droid-Life now have the Android 3.2 Honeycomb update available for download if you dare, sadly this is for the Wi-Fi ONLY version. It is highly recommended that if you own the 3G Xoom you wait as this update has only hit Wifi models so far.

All they have is the file available down download, no instructions or info about if it has been pre-rooted or anything exist. So this is one of those update if you dare moments and as always, anything that happens is your own fault. If you can’t wait and want to flash the latest update build HTJ85B for your Wi-Fi ONLY Motorola Xoom then check out the source for the download files and good luck. Once the developer community get more time we will have full instructions and one-click updates soon, I think I’ll wait as mine is 3G.

Motorola Droid Bionic Appears, Officially Coming This Summer

Posted: 12 Jul 2011 03:28 PM PDT

FINALLY! The Motorola Droid Bionic appears and finally gets confirmed. We have heard plenty about this device over the past few months and you can read all those by clicking here. Latest reports suggest it will in fact be running Android 2.3.4 as well as a few other details.

The Droid Bionic has finally appeared on the Verizon website and you can now sign up to receive news and details in the coming weeks. Right on the top they officially say “Coming This Summer” sadly we have been hearing that tune for a while now so hopefully sometime very soon we get more details. Last we heard the Bionic may launch on August 4th.

In case you missed this report the Bionic should fly in packing a 4.5″ qHD high-resolution display, a dual-core CPU, Android 2.3.4 and more. Basically it will be a beast and feature not only the latest dual-core technology, but also be blazing fast with Verizon 4G LTE. It will be the first device to have both 4G LTE and a dual-core, basically making it the top dog until something can knock it off its mountain. We should be hearing more soon so stay tuned.

I’m sure you have all heard of Polarbit before, the popular developer behind some of the most popular racing games on android such as Reckless Racing, Raging Thunder and more. They have just released another teaser video of what looks to be another amazing game to follow right along with Reckless Racing. The high paced and action packed top-down racer has a sequel in the making, check out the videos below.

Reckless Racing was the latest game released and it has been very popular, I know I played it for a few hours til my hands got tired on launch day. You can get Reckless Racing in the market now. With Reckless Getaway you get the same great action and gameplay but instead of racing on tracks you are flying down streets, and crossing bridges all while dodging incoming traffic. It looks great and here is the latest video.

From crashing police cars Grand Theft Auto style to jumping over trains Reckless Getaway aims to bring some amazing gameplay, impressive graphics and a fun arcade action racing game to Android in the near future.

Weave in and out of oncoming traffic; dodge, outrun or ram pursuing police cars and just generally crash, smash and thrash your way through 16 varied levels.

FEATURES:
- 16 eye-popping, visually amazing Tracks
- Simple and effective controls
- Unlock new tracks by earning your rates
- Game center enabled, show you're better than the rest and complete all achievements!
- Astonishing physics brings chaos to another level

They also released a video a late last week and we managed to miss that but don’t you worry, we have it posted below for your viewing pleasure. I can’t wait to get my hands on this game and hopefully we hear more soon so we can start waiting for the release date. Stay tuned!

HTC EVO 4G, Motorola Droid X and Droid 2 Global all Free at Wirefly

Posted: 12 Jul 2011 02:47 PM PDT

Wirefly is known for doing these sorts of deals so this shouldn’t be all that new to anyone. Wirefly adds phones to the list of FREE devices almost every week and in case you miss them, I’m here to remind you. Last week they had the Thunderbolt for $99, and this week they have some top-tier phones all for free and they include: HTC EVO 4G, Motorola Droid X, Droid 2 Global and more.

Like we said these deals aren’t anything new, as they are going on all the time just head to Wirefly and check out the free list. The small catch is these deals are for New members only that sign a new 2-year contract. Some even come with free activation and that is even more of an added bonus. Saving money is always a good thing right guys?

Personally the best deal looks to be that Droid 2 Global or the EVO 4G. The Droid 2 Global is great for any business people that travel a lot and getting it for free is just icing on the cake. Although the Droid 3 was just released over on Verizon so users that want a keyboard might want to snag that instead of the older Droid 2, but then you will be paying for it of course. As always keep your eyes on Android Community for Android news and deals.
