The digital workflow is changing. It was evident Polaroid had realized this change with the released of its free Polaroid mobile app. Now you can now take and edit photos with the app and send those photos to the Polaroid GL10 instant mobile printer. But that's only the beginning. Polaroid will also be releasing apps specific to the GL10 on a variety of mobile platforms throughout 2011. The GL10 prints Polaroid Classic Border Logo 3×4" photos in less than one minute. If you have a BlackBerry, Android or Windows compatible phone, the GL10 is ripe for the picking. | Polaroid Z340 brings classic Polaroid prints to the digital age Posted: 29 Jul 2011 11:54 AM PDT
The Z340 infuses the classic Polaroid experience with digital features. Photos can be cropped and edited on the camera prior to printing and then saved to the camera or SD card. This makes for easy sharing and transfer to your computer. The magic behind the Polaroid Z340 is the ZINK Zero Ink printing technology from ZINK Imaging. ZINK paper is comprised of three layers of specially designed dye crystals that are activated and colored by heat. With 400 million heat pulses, ZINK Paper transforms from ordinary to extraordinary to deliver water resistant, smudge proof and tear proof prints. The Polaroid Z340 comes bundled with ten sheets of ZINK Photo Paper, a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, power adapter, USB cable and a hand strap. Look for the Z340 to launch in December for £229.99 at Amazon.co.uk, Firebox.com and other leading retailers. December | Polaroid | £229.99 Related posts:

| iPhone Air concept: the smartphone Apple needs to develop Posted: 29 Jul 2011 09:35 AM PDT
Words can't describe the beauty that is the iPhone Air. The 3.7 to 4.0-inch display and teardrop shape pair perfectly. The design improves on an earlier iPhone 5 concept we uncovered by our friends at thisismynext.com, but honestly we love them both. With any luck Apple will take note of these quality designs and incorporate them into future generation iPhones. Which concept do you prefer? The original iPhone 5 concept or the new iPhone Air? via concept-phones Related posts:

| Acer Iconia Tab A100 does exist, launch scheduled for ‘early August’ Posted: 29 Jul 2011 08:45 AM PDT
As the younger brother to the 10-inch Acer A500, we began to wonder what happened to the A100 when a 4G version of the A500 (the A501) randomly showed up on Amazon for pre-order. So what took the A100 so long to arrive? According to Engadget, Acer A100 was delayed because of Honeycomb's restrictions on 7-inch displays. Just a refresher, the A100 features a 1 GHz Tegra 2 processor, 512MB of RAM, 8GB internal storage and a 7-inch capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 1024×600 pixels. There's no telling how well the A100 will fare against the similarly equipped HTC Flyer, but we welcome competition. The Acer A100 carries a suggested retail price of $300. via Android Police Related posts:

| HTC rides money train through second quarter, revenues up 104 percent on the year Posted: 29 Jul 2011 07:45 AM PDT
If you thought the second quarter was huge, wait until you hear HTC's third quarter forecasts. The company projects its revenues to top NT$137 billion for an increase of 10 percent over the second quarter and 80 percent on the year. Total smartphone shipments will grow 98 percent on the year to 13.5 million and gross margin will range between 27.5 and 28.5 percent. Overall, HTC is looking strong across the board. Let's just hope investors can find at least something to like in the second quarter financials and their quarter forecast. Maybe a glimpse of the HTC Puccini will do the trick. via DigiTimes Related posts:

| Motorola shipped 440,000 tablets and 4.4M smartphones in the second quarter Posted: 29 Jul 2011 07:15 AM PDT
With an increase is handset shipments and sales across the board you would think that Motorola would be able to stay out of the red — this was not the case. The company posted a net loss of $56 million in the quarter, down from a net profit of $80 million in the year-ago period. Not all was bad, however, revenue was up 41 percent from the year-ago quarter ($2.4 billion from $1.7 billion). During the today's earnings call, Motorola's CEO promised to release another 4G LTE smartphone and two new 4G LTE tablets by year's end. A mysterious photo of an unnamed Motorola handset leaked onto the internet yesterday which looks very similar to the Motorola Atrix, but with a larger 4.3-inch display. This unnamed handset and the Droid Bionic appear to be the only 4G LTE handsets planned for the remainder of 2011. Will this be enough to turn the company around before the end of the year? via Motorola Related posts:

| Sony Ericsson is planning a massive 4.7-inch glasses-free 3D smartphone Posted: 29 Jul 2011 06:43 AM PDT
Sony Ericsson's first 3D smartphone shares a lot in common with the rumors Samsung Galaxy Q. Both devices offer larger-than-life displays (5.3-inches vs 4.7-inches) and neither will fit in a pair of skinny jeans. The only difference, at least as far as we can tell, is that the Galaxy Q might be marketed as a tablet instead of a phone. Currently we have the LG Optimus 3D and the HTC EVO 3D. In addition, Samsung has been rumored to be working on a Galaxy 3D according to Korean news outlet ETNews. With three of the major smartphone players launching a 3D phone, it seems only fitting that Sony Ericsson would launch a device of its own. Whether or not the world needs another 3D smartphones is open for discussion (or debate). Personally, I'd prefer Sony Ericsson focus its talents towards developing better 2D smartphones and increased availability in North America. They stepped up the game at this year's CES convention, but lately they've fallen off the radar — at least to this smartphone enthusiast. Now we ask you: should Sony Ericsson release a 3D smartphone? via SEMC Blog Related posts:

| Olympus E-PL3 launching this September with your choice of a zoom or pancake lens Posted: 29 Jul 2011 06:25 AM PDT
We first heard about the Olympus E-PL3 in June when the camera became official. Today, the manufacturer has confirmed a September launch and two equally priced kits which include the FL-LM1 clip-on flash. The first kit comes with a wide-angle zoom M. Zuiko 14-42 lens with fast autofocus and silent AF operation. The second kit includes the M. Zuiko 17mm ultra-compact and portable wide-angle pancake lens. Both kits will be priced at £430 ($699) when released this September. In addition to the camera kits, Olympus will introduce the VF-3 electronic viewfinder. Priced at £110 ($179), the viewfinder offers 100-percent field-of-view, making composition both easy and accurate. The VF-3 can be rotated up to 90-degrees for obscure shooting angles and allows tweaking of both brightness and color temperature. Coming September | Olympus | £430 Related posts:

| Apple replaces Nokia as the world’s biggest smartphone maker Posted: 29 Jul 2011 03:35 AM PDT
Samsung’s achievement is even more impressive. It shipped just 3.1 million phones in the same quarter last year but this year the number has jumped to 19.2 million (an increase of 520%) on the back of the success of the Samsung Galaxy S2. Nokia will hope that moving to Windows Phone 7 later this year will revive its fortunes. Its smartphone shipments dropped by 7.1 million handsets from this time last year. | Microsoft awkwardly mocks Google: meet Gmail Man! Posted: 29 Jul 2011 03:05 AM PDT
Google obviously wouldn’t agree that its contextual Gmail ads, which are generated by algorithms, count as snooping but the video is designed to promote Office 365, Microsoft’s suite of apps which competes with Gmail. The Gmail Man video was leaked to ZD Net’s Mary-Jo Foley and while Microsoft won’t comment on whether it really is official, there is a big clue. The office Gmail Man visits belongs to Contoso Ltd, one of Microsoft’s favourite fake company names which crops up in lots of other videos and demos. Whether you agree with the points made by the clip or not, it’s one of the most awkward Microsoft videos we’ve ever seen, up there with Rick Gervais training Microsoft staff and Steve Balmer and Bill Gates’ road trip.
