BlizzCon 2011 Day Two: Starcraft II Tournament Results, Prizes And Foo Fighters

Posted: 23 Oct 2011 01:01 AM PDT

The end of the second day of BlizzCon 2011 brings with it the year-long anticipation for Blizzard's next gamers' conference. As you wait with bated breath for BlizzCon 2012, allow us to recap the final day of this year's show.

exchange smiles as they hold their prize checks.

We found our two DIY PC-building challenge winners today. Shelly Choi (10 minutes and 9 seconds) and John Yoon (8 minutes and 11 seconds) posted the fastest time-to-boot across both days of competition. They both won a 120GB Kingston SSD hard drive and the GeForce-powered gaming PCs that they built.

To end our prize giveaways with a bang, we raffled off two 27" ASUS 3D displays with NVIDIA Lightboost technology, a few GeForce GTX 580 graphics cards and a high-end gaming PC from Digital Storm.

The BlizzCon Closing Ceremony included an award ceremony for the winners of the BlizzCon 2011 Starcraft II Tournament. After a heated battle, pro gamer MMA won first place, and was presented with a $50,000 check. MVP received a $25,000 check for his runner-up finish.

Finally, Blizzard closed the show in true BlizzCon fashion. The Foo Fighters hit the mainstage to perform in front of a packed house. Frontman Dave Grohl, having played drums for Tenacious D at BlizzCon 2010, was no stranger to the show. He worked the crowd into a mosh-pitting, singing-along frenzy.

This year's BlizzCon took the show to a new level. We don't know exactly what to expect from next year's Blizzard gamer gathering. But, if it's anything like this year, we're in for some good times.
