All hail the new king of high-end graphics cards. The GeForce GTX 690 graphics card hit the scene this weekend, toting dual GPUs based on NVIDIA's Kepler architecture.

If you missed the news, head over to the GeForce.com page detailing the technical and aesthetic chops of the GTX 690 here.

the GeForce GTX 690

NVIDIA CEO Jen-Hsun Huang unveiled the card, our new GeForce flagship, at the GeForce LAN / NVIDIA Gaming Festival  keynote in Shanghai, in front of 6,000 NGF attendees and a global audience of 500,000 tuning in via our video livestream. Watch the keynote here.

The GTX 690 features two Kepler-based GeForce GPUs and a whopping 4GB of GDDR5 RAM. It's built from a combination of aluminum and magnesium alloys, and features a dual vapor chamber cooling system for quiet-yet-efficient airflow. With 3,072 CUDA cores powering this beast, the GTX 690 delivers roughly the same performance as two GTX 680s.

Jen-Hsun talked not only about the performance of the GTX 690 (more info here), but also introduced NVIDIA's cloud-based GeForce Experience technology. To help the approximately 80 percent of gamers who run their games with default settings, GeForce Experience automatically analyzes hardware components, operating systems and driver status using a cloud-based supercomputer to instantly determine optimal game settings for your gaming PC.
