| NVIDIA and Jülich Join Forces to Drive GPU Computing Innovation Posted: 18 Jun 2012 02:01 PM PDT  At Europe's most important supercomputing show, International Supercomputing Conference (held in beautiful Hamburg, Germany), NVIDIA and Forschungszentrum Jülich shared news today of a new multiyear collaboration to drive the future of GPU computing. As an IEEE-recognized global conference and exhibition for high performance computing, networking and storage, ISC enables industry leaders to explore new ways to overcome today's toughest GPU-computing challenges. The color that seems to rule the show floor is NVIDIA Green, reinforcing the importance of energy-efficiency in GPU computing. The swarms of attendees sporting NVIDIA Tesla badges underpin the massive Tesla and CUDA presence at the show.
As part of the new collaboration, the Jülich Supercomputing Center will host the NVIDIA Application Lab. Thomas Lippert, director of the Jülich Supercomputing Centre, and Walter Mundt-Blum, vice president of NVIDIA's Professional Solution Group in Europe, have signed on to help drive GPU-accelerated scientific research in science fields like neuroscience, astronomy, astrophysics, material science, particle physic and protein folding. Professor Lippert closed the meeting with the words, "I believe that CUDA brings fun back into computing." Starting June 19, NVIDIA is hosting a full day of talks on our latest GPU technologies and development platforms at the Radisson Blu hotel. Topics range from NVIDIA Kepler architecture to CUDA on ARM, from OpenACC to GPU-accelerated science on the Oak Ridge National Laboratory's Titan supercomputer.
