Posted: 17 May 2010 03:07 AM PDT Our dependency on gizmos and gadgets leads us innovate and come up with portable solutions for charging them. Even on a hike in the wilderness, a GPS device holds more prestige than a compass! With The Source is a device that plans on harnessing the solar and wind energy to tank up enough juice for your everyday gadgets. It even incorporates a powerful LED Torch to light up the camping nights. My only concern is the sturdiness of this design. It looks to be pretty easy, but I'm sure you technical guys will have a bone to pick with it. Designer: Cheng Peng |
Posted: 17 May 2010 01:00 AM PDT Truly it is the law of all children that one must find it his or her duty as a young human to decide the jumpability of each and every piece of furniture in their own environment. Yes! Furniture was mean to be played upon. But lo! It was no designed that way. And so! Here comes a brillaint designer mind by the name of Kaja Osholm Kjølås to lead the way with “Buskas,” a set of furniture to INSPIRE play for all kids. Kids who play are kids who lead the way. Did you know? Play is more important to a child than anything else. It’s science. I know it, Kaja knows it, and gosh darnit, you should know it! So check it out! Kaja sees the modern home full of furniture that’s comfortable enough, but in no way inspires the modern child to activate themselves in a healthy manner. Truly with this set of Buskas Kaja does challenge the status quo of furniture in the mod home by stimulating play and the joy of fantasy, activity for all the children who wish to grow up having exhausted themselves each and every day with a tonload of healthy play! Posted: 17 May 2010 12:42 AM PDT This car right here is the sassiest little number this side of Volvo, and it’s aiming to be the car that leads every pack. Designer Nouphone J. Bansasine presents his vision for the 4 door coupe, taking the trend for these to be highly sought after, producing here a 4 door sportscar for the year 2015. What’s more? This car was made during an internship Bansasine rolled with at the Volvo Monitoring and Concept Center (VMCC.) What’s that mean? It’s the real deal, honey! And by real deal I mean that although it is a concept car, aka not real, yet, that it’s produced through Volvo, meaning it’s very possible it WILL influence the next generation of cars out of the Volvo shops. Bansasine means for this car to compete in the premium sport sedan segment, rolling hard with its lovely profile of immense amounts of convex and concave surfacing. Let me take the opportunity here to say thank you to everyone who submits auto designs that are sometimes undeniably wild and other times right in line with the very next generation of road-ready vehicles. I and everyone else here at Yanko love to see this massive amount of diversity in designers today, and applaud each and every one of you. That said, if you ever send a picture of your car that takes longer to load because of its size than it takes me to go to the refrigerator and get another soda, I’m gonna come over there and bonk you on the head. Posted: 17 May 2010 12:15 AM PDT One theory suggests that to keep office efficiency at maximum levels, employees should have minimum personal interaction. Meaning no chit-chats or coffee-breaks together, just emails and IMs! Supporting this theory is the Electronic Office Screen Door that embeds an electronic imaging screen underneath the sheer veneer and above the wood. It has its pros and cons….like you can always display a "Busy In A Meeting" message before that nagging accounts guy wants to come in for bills clarifications. Or that guy who got the promotion can keep rubbing the "New Manager" title in your face! Designer: Zhang Wei |
Posted: 17 May 2010 12:10 AM PDT Let's be metaphoric this Monday Morning and discuss how you would re-design everyday objects. As designers I'm sure you must be using pencils and erasers, so let's just zero-in on erasers for the moment. How would you restyle this synthetic, perfumed piece of plastic so that it not only looks good but works effectively too. One of the things with erasers is that they erase better when they have a sharp edge. So does this mean the Pebble Eraser fits the bill? I think it does… Designers: Ching-Chan Wang & Ya-Ting Yang |
Posted: 17 May 2010 12:02 AM PDT Welcome to the modern world, cat, no more pooping above the ground for you. Nay! From now on you have your own room to poo. In through the ceiling you shall go! This fantabulous contraption is known as the “Modcat,” and to the future this cat shall go. The top has an opening through which the cat shall go, and inside this bucket of pleasure the cat shall have just enough room to do the business and exit. From there, it’s just a simple flip and grip and you’re on your way to cleaning! This is one of the best ideas I’ve ever seen in cat bathroom technology, and let me tell you, I’ve seen some doozies. I’m totally over the “automatic” cleaning litter boxes, and these flatbeds are giving off a vibe I’ve never been totally comfortable with, even when it sits in the human bathroom all nice. Nay! I say there must be change! And this is it. This Modcat brings your cat to a stylish world where rooftop access is king. Look at this slickness. Lots of pretty colors, too!
