A Shelf Life Like No Other

Posted: 18 May 2010 08:47 AM PDT

WARNING: The following design may inspire self loathing, resentment and/or simple jealousy that you did not think of this first. Deal with it.

From the Yanko Obvious Files comes this latest creation from designer Sam Drury. The “Self Supporting Shelf” is a masterfully simple idea. It is a telescopic shelf that extends between two flat surfaces for a perfect fit every time. No screws, no nails no messy clean-up. The shelf can be moved at whim with zero damage to your walls. With its cam and cantilever mechanism, the more pulp fiction you pile on, the sturdier the shelf becomes. I can almost hear the late night TV commercials now.

Wake-up And Smell The Coffee, Have It Too!

Posted: 18 May 2010 04:44 AM PDT

Buzzer alarms need to be tossed out of the window and replaced with the CoffeeTime. The idea is to wake up with the smell of coffee…no jarring rings or bells; just the inviting aroma. How does this happen, you ask? Well, you pre-set your favorite coffee capsule into the hour-glass shaped alarm. At wake-up time, the steaming brew just pours into a waiting cup and the strong aroma of coffee arouses you. The whiff of coffee is further enhanced with a "smell emitter", which is located on the top of the maker.

Till here I'm totally sold to the idea. I'm willing to take my chances sans buzzers. What I can't digest is the self-cleaning chamber in the lower half, which apparently stores water to clean the used cup. I'd much rather rinse out the cup in the sink and then set it up for the next day.

If someone decides to make this…just ensure it's a compact thingy that fits in my bedroom.

Oh yes I'm biased…cause I'm a coffee addict!

Are You A iTits Guy?

Posted: 18 May 2010 02:43 AM PDT

If the G-Spot is hard to reach, then how about fooling around with breasts? Erotic pleasure just took another techno turn and you can squarely blame the iTit for it. Deriving pleasure (rather inspiration) from Apple's optical wireless mouse, the added feature to this design is tactile interaction with nipples! You read that right! A nipple provocatively beckons you to come and feel it…and responds to your caress as a joystick would. Oh my…what fun!

A Span Of Lights

Posted: 18 May 2010 01:00 AM PDT

I'm not a big fan of study-table lamps simply because I can't stand the surrounding darkness. Always creeps me out, but I'm sure most of you students need to invest in one. Sharing dorm rooms, you can't disturb your mates right! So when you use one…how much light is sufficient for you? How about a lamp that lets you decide the luminance. Swipe a finger or span your palm to get "As Much As You Need Light". Just the right amount of focus and light!

Up and Up Watch

Posted: 18 May 2010 12:20 AM PDT

The watch you’re about to see right here is called the “Ever Increasing Watch” and it’s designed by none other than the fabulous crew at EleeNo. You know what kind of world we live in. One where you’ve got some sort of phone or computer device with you at all times. Some sort of object with you constantly that’ll give you the time of day whenever you want it. So what’s the point of a wrist watch? Again I say, for the love of the game! In honor of the simplicity offered in the readout on your cellphone, EleeNo offers this watch to engage!

Engaging the audience is not the opposite of making it easy for them to understand, but sometime’s it’s close. In this case, it’s a magnificent set of colors, lines, dots, and grids that tells you the time in a way you’ve never experienced before.

It’s called the “Ever Increasing Watch” because it’s a display of three ever-rising graphs, the time shown in digits at the press of a button. Making it obvious for you that your life is aiming for that one spot, that one high point, the climax! — Or that the Earth is just moving closer to the sun.

Either way, neat watch, eh?!

A Porsche for Hauling

Posted: 18 May 2010 12:10 AM PDT

What do you do when you’ve got a lot to haul, but you don’t want to go down to your local Dodge dealer? How about if you’ve got about 500 pounds of gold you’ve got to move from one place to another? How about diamonds? You can’t go around moving that stuff in a Ford truck! You’ve got to get yourself a PORSCHE! But they don’t come out with Porsche trucks like the kind you want all the time, you know so you’ve got to invent it yourself. That’s what’s going on here!

Designer Nouphone J. Bansasine knows that Porsche already has a Porsche Panamera sedan, the Cayenne SUV, and a sports car line up. Now! Now comes the time for this fabulous new Porsche TranSport! The truck that you can haul your rubies and emeralds in without one odd eye glancing toward you!

Truly the great truck for those with infinite mula.

Also it looks fabulous.

Underwater Death Container

Posted: 18 May 2010 12:03 AM PDT

After you or a loved one of yours passes, how low will you go? Hopefully not TOO low below sea level, but if you’re into the ocean, here’s the container you aught to go down in. It’s called the “Genesis Biopod” and not only is it a reasonable pod for your dod to go low in, it’s a means to increase and sustain ocean life at the same time! That’s right, your dead body is good for more than just rotting around! Your remains can spread the love for future generations of your beloved ocean life, right here, right now.

Made in honor of his own father, designer Jack Hokanson designed and executed this fabulous pod which is designed to be filled with the remains of a deceased human body and lowered into the ocean by a boat capable of keeping a record of where it was laid. Inside the pod there is a dissolvable bag which after only five minutes of being submerged is basically gone, releasing the ashes of the dead, making it a fabulous place for algae to grow, the container being then a home for any number of marine creatures.

It’s like donating your bones to the boneless!
