Droid 2 First Custom Rom Released

Posted: 06 Sep 2010 10:57 AM PDT

We know that the Droid 2 owners are waiting for some custom ROMS to load since they have had their device rooted. After you are rooted of course, you can head over HERE to get Koush's Droid 2 bootstrap, to get Clockwork Recovery Flashed, then do not forget to make a full Nandroid Backup.

The EPIC ROM, is essentially a ROM that is a stock BLUR ROM, that has been reworked and all the bloatware has been removed along with it. If you would like to give the ROM a try feel free to head over HERE and do not forget to thank Matt for the good work.

Samsung Fascinate Arriving In Stores For Thursday Launch

Posted: 06 Sep 2010 10:37 AM PDT

So who is waiting for a Fascinate on September 9th? It is looking like your wait will not be much longer, Thursday you will want to head over to Verizon to get you one. These shots are already proof that the phone is hitting stores but is not able to be activated until Thursday.

Verizon is the last of the 4 main carriers to get their version of the Galaxy S, and this will just be another Android device stacked up to their many Droids already available. Looks like this might be a better choice for Samsung’s offering because, as you can see in the pics there is much needed LED flash, added along with the camera. So count down the days.

Samsung Galaxy Tab Unlocked German Pricing Shocker

Posted: 06 Sep 2010 07:36 AM PDT

Well, jump on this train ride of Galaxy Tab pricing info, because that is what it is. Now being shown–unlike the rumored US pricingAmazon Germany has the Tab for €799 ($1,030).

This could be signs of what an unlocked Galaxy Tab could cost in the US, but at this kind of pricing we doubt that a bunch of people would be on board with the device. In the mean time, let’s keep our fingers crossed that this is not the case but things are not looking to bright if you wanting to buy an unlocked one.

Dell Streak Gets 2.1 Update For O2

Posted: 06 Sep 2010 07:13 AM PDT

So the Streak is way behind on 1.6 and Dell has been saying that they will update it to 2.1. O2 has released the update now and we would not doubt that anyone would want to wait very long to install it. There are some instructions to doing the update and you will loose some of your data.

Any data that is not stored on the SD card will be lost during the update and all the the apps will have to be reinstalled through the Marketplace. You always have the option, to download an app in the Market that will backup all your SMS messages, contacts, and other important information.

To get the update started you can go into settings, then about phone, and system update on the device. Once they update is has been downloaded, then the user will be prompted to install the update. From there, you should be good to go in about 15 minutes. We know, its not 2.2 but it is a lot better than 1.6.

Samsung Galaxy Tab Could Be around $200 to $400

Posted: 06 Sep 2010 06:50 AM PDT

By the looks of things, the Galaxy tab might not be as expensive as what we were hearing last week. Samsung is whispering things that point to the Galaxy Tab costing at the $200 to $400 dollar range. We are also positive that the different storage sizes will make a difference in the pricing.

This would make more sense to us especially being that the tablets will be subsidized by the carriers. Hopefully $400 dollars would be full retail price, which would make it great competition for the iPad pricing. As we hear more info from the carriers, things will get more interesting. Vodafone in the UK has already said they are going to have the Tab available with a “coming soon” link on their site. No matter what, this thing should be out on a couple of carriers by the time Black Friday hits.

New Froyo Build Leaks Out For Nexus One

Posted: 06 Sep 2010 06:28 AM PDT

It appears that Google has been working on yet another update for 2.2, and the open source community has gotten their hands on it. In the build is said to be more speed improvements, better Wi-Fi performance, and bug fixes. Build number FRG33 also has a newer version of the installed radio.

The update has not been officially pushed out and we are not sure if it is ready for the mainstream, but if you are a ROM junky or just want to try your luck head over HERE and give it a try. Always remember when you install non-officially released ROMS, there could be a chance everything does not work properly. Let us know how it goes if you intall it.

Verizon HTC Android device, EVO Killer With Keyboard?

Posted: 05 Sep 2010 12:31 PM PDT

Spotted over at the FCC was this large HTC handset wearing Verizon’s wedding ring. We do not know if this is a Droid phone but by the looks of things, this could be called the Droid King. Looks as though the phone is sporting a 4 inch display with a slide out keyboard, dressed in that all to famous Verizon red.

Rumor has it that this will have one of the fastest processors in it that we have seen in a Google ran device, and there has been no word of pricing or availability. As fast as Verizon is launching Droid devices, we would not be surprised to see this nestled in Verizon stores around the US.
