Red Dead Redemption Undead Nightmare new video: See it in HD! Posted: 30 Sep 2010 10:06 AM PDT
Read our Red Dead Redemption review now The Red Dead Redemption Undead Nightmare DLC pack, heading to both PS3 and Xbox 360, rather predictably includes zombies. But who doesn’t like zombies? Apart from the Legends And Killers pack, it’s also the most potentially exciting as it adds a new single player campaign as well, which should please Xbox Live silver subscribers, and those who just enjoyed the epic solo adventure of Red Dead Redemption. And did we mention the zombies? ![]() Check out the Red Dead Redemption Undead Nightmare trailer below, and hit the icon in the bottom right to toggle resolution if you want the juicy, fleshy 720p version. Kinect nags you to tidy up: the virtual mum you never wanted! Posted: 30 Sep 2010 09:21 AM PDT
Mark Plagge, the Kinect Senior Product Manager says: "The floor plane is very important, if you've got a very cluttered floor with clothes all over the place, we cant get a good look at the floor… it's great if people can clean it up and move things out of the way." ![]() Hmmm. So, Kinect might not be great if you have kids. Although on the flip side, it could be a great way to con the kids into tidying up – what better way to prevent the daily toys apocalypse that hits your living room than the fact that the Kinect won't work unless they put their stuff away? Apple 3G Macbook incoming? Patent says yes Posted: 30 Sep 2010 08:02 AM PDT
The 3G Macbook patent uncovered by Patently Apple was part of a batch of 17 granted to Apple in the US. The batch included documents related to the new iPod touch and iMac. The 3G Macbook patent goes into exhaustive detail about how Apple could incorporate a "multi-band cellular telephone antenna and…multi-band wireless local area network antenna" in the same laptop. ![]() While we've seen recent Macbook and Macbook Pro refreshes, the Macbook Air has remained conspicuously untouched. It doesn't seem like a huge jump to predict that Apple will first put this 3G Macbook patent into practice in a new Macbook Air. There has to be something to make the super-slim laptop relevant again in this increasingly iPad-loving world. Clues that suggested a 3G Macbook was in the works were spotted last year by folks rooting around in Snow Leopard code but they could very well have been related to the iPad. Meanwhile, rumours of a Macbook Air 3G have been floating around for some time and stack up well with the latest patent. Hit the comments and tell us: are you itching to get your hands on a 3G-packing Macbook? Out TBC | £TBC | Apple (via Patently Apple) Related posts:

High street shop Next releases its own tablet to widespread confusion Posted: 30 Sep 2010 07:38 AM PDT
The Next tablet is a 10" Android tablet, running Android 2.1. It has a USB port, standard headphone socket, MicroSD slot, and 8GB of internal storage. Rather confusingly, and perhaps uniquely for an Android tablet so far, it's also got a resistive touchscreen – that’s right, one you have to press down on for it to work. ![]() The Next Android tablet is priced at £180, which is pretty cheap, although it only has 3hours of battery life. Vital stats are 27cm x 18cm, with a 1.6cm depth, and a weight of 695g. It’s available now, and was released with very little fanfare in the Next Christmas brochure last week. At last, there's something to buy with all those Christmas vouchers from relatives, other than socks. Question is – is the Next Android tablet better than socks? Next up, a 3D telly made by BHS… Will you be buying one for mum? Drop us a line in the comments and let us know! Not before you’ve skipped over here though. [via ShinyShiny] Related posts:

iPhone 3GS all set to get HDR camera capability Posted: 30 Sep 2010 07:03 AM PDT
HDR stands for High Dynamic Range, and it arrived with the iPhone 4. It works by taking a number of shots, in the case of the iPhone 4, three, and putting them all together to produce a shot with the best light and shade. It sort of works a bit like the shadow/highlight button on Photoshop. ![]() The source of this revelation is 9to5Mac, who spotted that the SDK had two HDR icons, one for the iPhone with retina display, and one without. Since the iPhone 3G or older iPhone models don’t have the hardware for HDR at all, it looks like the second icon must be for the iPhone 3GS. This means that either the iPhone 3GS is getting an upgrade to add HDR, or that it’s a feature dropped from public release that’s still hanging around in the SDK. What do you think? Do you have a 3GS? Do you want HDR?Drop us a line in the comments and let us know! [via 9to5Mac] Related posts:

Beats by Dre product explosion: Beatbox, Powerbeats, Beats Pro and iBeats incoming! Posted: 30 Sep 2010 06:29 AM PDT Beats by Dre, the high-end headphone line built by Monster and endorsed by a rap superstar, has punted out a whole load of new products to ponder. We've already warned you about the Justin Bieber headphones so we can more on to the more palatable products – the Beatbox (Beats by Dr Dre's first iPod dock), Powerbeats (new sports headphones), Beats Pro (for studio heads) and iBeats (cheaper headphones for iPad, iPod and iPhone fans). Head through for all the details…
First up, there's the Beatbox iPod dock, the first non-headphone product punted out from the Monster/Beats by Dr Dre merchandising machine. It's a good looking slab of black and we're promised "a party in a box" thanks to dual proprietary 5.25in bass drivers and 2in concave high frequency drivers. The Beatbox has a curious trapezoid shape which is apparently so you can stick it in the corner and still fill the room with sound. We suspect it's designed more for banging out Dre's 2001 rather than Bieber's gravest hits. The whole package looks pretty sturdy with an old school power button and volume knob. Powerbeats are the Beats by Dre offering for active types (so, no one at Electricpig Towers, frankly). Designed with the help of NBA MVP LeBron James, the Powerbeats come in black, red or white and pack dual drivers and a built-in subwoofer. Beats by Dre claim the ear tip design will ensure you can hear important sounds (like cars speeding towards you) and enjoy your music at the same time. iBeats are a pair of iPhone 4/iPod/iPhone headphones. They have a sealed in-ear design to reduce external noise and a driver design that Beats by Dre claim gives you "deep bass, soaring highs and ultra-clear midrange". We'll be the judge of that when we get our hands on them but we do like the solid metal design and tangle resistant cables. They also come with an in-line remote for hands free calls on the iPhone and other smartphones. Finally there's the Beats Pro headphones, the Beats by Dre cans for the studio head with cash to spare. The reference headphones pack in ambient noise isolation, have flip up ear cups to let you check out how the room is loving your set (did Agadoo get the wedding rocking like you expected?) and are made of lightweight aluminum. The new Beats by Dre headphones range from £89.95 for the iBeats to £139.95 for the Powerbeats and £399.95 for the Beats Pro. The Beatbox will also set you back £399.95. Justin Bieber headphones: Beats by Dre gone wrong! Posted: 30 Sep 2010 06:01 AM PDT Justin Bieber: god of the tweens, scourge of the Internet, consumer of Twitter servers…endorser of headphones? Yep. The pudding-bowl-haired pop irritant has put his name to a brand new pair of Beats by Dr Dre headphones (joining Lady Gaga and P Diddy). The line has cannily mortgaged its cool to tap into the untold riches of tween spending power. Want to find out how much the Justin Bieber headphones you'll be obliged to buy your niece will set you back? Read on and despair… The Justin Bieber headphones (aka JustBeats by Dr Dre) come in in-ear and on-ear versions. Monster says they're specifically designed to teach young music fans to appreciate good quality sound. They also might just be about getting those young music fans on pricey headphones but hey, call us cynical. While his the JustBeats come with the Justin Bieber seal of approval, the Biebz himself didn't have a hand in their design (this isn't a Lady Gaga Polaroid situation). Instead he's just helping with the "messaging". Translation: “Attention, Justin Bieber fans! Your tiny faced god wants you to buy these headphones. This will make him happy and encourage him to marry you." If you're unfortunate enough to have a Justin Bieber fan in your family, JustBeats will be on sale in time for Christmas. JustBeats by Dr Dre will set you back £169.95 for the purple on-ear version and £89.95 for the purple and chrome finish in-ear style. Let us know what you think of the Justin Bieber endorsed tech in the comments. What other gadgets should the pop pest lend his name to? A Justin Bieber branded taser ideal for screaming crowd control? Out Winter 2010 | From £89.95 | Beats by Dr Dre Related posts:

Lunchtime Lowdown: Nokia N8 ships, Windows Phone 7 gossip and new Angry Birds levels Posted: 30 Sep 2010 04:36 AM PDT
First up, it’s been a busy time on the Windows Phone 7 front – it is launching soon, after all. Sony Ericsson is now reported to be onboard, while Samsung let slip we’d see several handsets this year, and the first HTC Mondrian press shots leaked out. In gaming meanwhile, Angry Birds got an update on the iPhone, adding extra levels and Game Center support. Say goodbye to getting any work done! Finally, the Nokia N8 is now shipping! Those who pre-ordered can get their hands on the slick Symbian 3 smartphone first, but it shouldn’t be too long for everyone else – check out our guides for more on it. Still want more news? Google phone gallery: helps you pick the best Android phone Posted: 30 Sep 2010 04:24 AM PDT
The Google phone gallery will display all Android phones available, and thankfully, you can navigate by country, so you won’t have to be working out any US to UK HTC device name translations. ![]() The Google phone gallery also has a compare function, which means you can look at up to three Android phones side by side, and look at which operators offer the devices, what version of Android they run, the skins they have, levels of connectivity, and other key features like battery life and hardware. The benefit of the site is that consumers have a one stop shop for working out what Android phone is best for them, from source too, at a Google branded site. On the other side of the fence, Google may also be able to do some monetisation, as the gallery will feed you through to network operators and sellers where you can order your chosen Android device. It’s still being updated to incorporate more Android phones and operators, but it’s already a massive boon for consumers, and will hopefully do a lot for the general understanding of how Android works in the marketplace, pushing sales even higher, and diffusing the confusion in the marketplace. What do you think about the Android phone gallery? Do you think it simplifies things? Drop us a line in the comments and tell us what you think! Head here to take a look for yourself. Related posts:
