Sync Into Your Seat

Posted: 12 Oct 2010 08:58 AM PDT

The Sync is a seating system consisting of a number of cubes that move up and down with a persons body weight by the aid of gas springs, to create arm rests and a back rest from the surrounding cubes. Brills! Of course that means anyone attempting to sit next to me will get my pissy face because they’re essentially sitting on my armrests. I like the idea, hate the covers. Fortunately there are other upholstery options.

What Camera?

Posted: 12 Oct 2010 08:54 AM PDT

The Cloak Bag was designed to solve a problem many travelers face when carrying their expensive cameras in less reputable areas; how to keep your camera out of sight yet still ready at a second’s notice when you are out exploring. It is the first bag of its kind, allowing full access to the camera without the need to take it out of the bag.

The Surreal HTC!

Posted: 12 Oct 2010 05:13 AM PDT

Sometimes it may be wise to live in the surreal world, where gadgets and gizmos do you biding, doesn't matter if tech support is available or not. This theory applies mainly to cell phones, and here is this HDD Cell Phone with Multi OS, just for your fancy! It supports more than one operating systems through the unique "smart software" platform. This means you can choose your OS, get bored with and then hook up to the software and choose another! Details like contacts, photos etc, get saved and are automatically transferred to the new platform. Besides this, customizable hard buttons, sound and screen optimization and advanced digital experience, are just some of the perks.

Two Flashlights In One, And Some Florescent Magic

Posted: 12 Oct 2010 04:03 AM PDT

The Emergency Flashlight is meant for a grab-me-on-the-way-out emergency situation. What it features is a single flashlight tube that splits up into two and is connected via s florescent rope. The two split-up tubes work as powerful independent flashlights and the rope in between the two is used as a safety guide. The user scenario would be something like this; two responsible adults hold on to the two lights and the elderly and children hang on to the luminescent rope. Ideally the designer would be right with this concept, but in real-life situation, panic, stampedes and running at different paces may hamper this user-scene evacuation process. A lot of self discipline would be required on the part of the users, to not just rush our blindly. Human nature I guess!

The O+ Music Campaign

Posted: 12 Oct 2010 03:29 AM PDT

From what I've learnt, marketing is all about how make a product get noticed and grab media attention in the shortest possible span of time. An effective campaign can either be subtle, the get-under-your-skin kinds or be totally in-your-face. In the music industry it's the latter route that finds much success, which is why flamboyance and distinctiveness is a part of the game. The O+ Promotional Media Package is just that! Ideal for single song releases and candid promos, the kit includes music access via a vinyl record, compact disc, USB flash drive and as an iTunes Download Code, bundled together. The only limitation is its memory size, not too big.

As designer David Riesenberg admits, it may not be commercially feasible to mass produce this concept, but for novelty special editions and buzz creation, this medium can be viable.

The way it works is this: the solid CD base accommodates a distortion proof vinyl layer, and the detachable USB flash drive accommodates the different spindle size.

The idea looks like it can create a major impact, any takers?

Zipped Tight Seat

Posted: 12 Oct 2010 12:10 AM PDT

This seat is the one you buy if you want everyone to say – “where did you get such a chair, such a completely unique and wild chair?” You want people to say that, right? You’re that kind of wacky fellow or lady, correct? Lemme tell you all about this chair “Zipfred.” It’s made of cable ties, 6 wooden elements, and 20 layers of cardboard. The cable ties hold the entire chair together solid, the entire structure in its final form looking like you bought it directly out of a modern art museum fancy shop.

Tie your sitting power together. It’s an amalgamation of ties, that’s what it is. Ask designer Viktor Matic (what a fantastic name, by the way,) what he did the day he received shipment of his first 10 chairs? You know he put them all together, one after the other, all the while listening to some “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger.” Then he took turns sitting on all of them because they’re so miraculous!

Container of All Sparks

Posted: 12 Oct 2010 12:03 AM PDT

Presenting the “AllSpark.” If you’re a Transformers fan, you recognize that name, and you bet Dutch interior designer Tieme Rietveld knows that you know it. Rietveld presents an audio/video cabinet made for TV personality Valerio Zeno (it’s a one off,) fabulous enough to share and shoot out sparks about a production model. Get excited about putting all your AV equipment in there and have fun opening and closing it all day and night. Rietveld constructed this cabinet with the live-action Transformers movies in mind, taking their Allspark and turning it into a container of power in a poetic mix of lines and sectional openings – chaos and order.

Inside the AllSpark you can fit a complete Harman Kardon audio and video set including not one, but two subwoofers for maximum bass blast. A tiny infrared receiver in one of the doors that hooks up to all the devices allowing you to use wireless controllers with the doors closed. Handleless doors, finished with glossy white.

Boards of The Living Dead

Posted: 12 Oct 2010 12:02 AM PDT

Inspired by author Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein story, designer Tlalit Segal Raayoni presents a set of wood furniture brought back from the dead, made to further our understanding of both the living and the not-so-alive trees in our world. Dr. Frankenstein wanted to understand the so-called “essence” of life and death, and to do this, combined the two – creating a strange beast, like yet unlike either of the two. So too is this new tiny collection “Vision of Dry Boards.” Behold the excellence of resurrected scraps of wood, put together and given the breath of new life.

Another thing Raayoni infuses into this set of furniture is the concept of “object-friends” – inanimate objects meant to present an animate presence. Sit on them and tell me if they speak to you.

Measurements: ladder – 180 cm, chair – 70 cm, bench – 150 cm
Materials: wood scraps

Designer: Tlalit Segal Raayoni
