Posted: 24 Nov 2010 01:10 AM PST The Wax-on is a solid ink printer that simplifies the process of printing. It removes the need of producing plastic waste and annoyance of using ink jet cartridges. The minimal design ensures less use of desk-space and it's vertical orientation works perfect with the printing disposition. The concept challenges the future of printing and takes advantage of new advancements in wax ink printing and sustainability. Designer: Faris Elmasu ---------- |
Posted: 24 Nov 2010 01:00 AM PST The Post-it is Perfect, I have a wad of it sitting right here on my workstation and no complains at all. This is until I saw this SAVE Post-it concept design! It has an adhesive strip running right at the center of the pad, and it's kinda fashioned like a cello tape reel. The idea is that you write a note and then just tear off the adequate amount of sheet, so no extra paper gets wasted. Small effective steps to a better planet! Four Dimensional Ultrasound for Non-Invasive Surgery Posted: 24 Nov 2010 12:03 AM PST Sounds exciting! The problem the designer is trying to solve here is the fact that malpractice suits for minimally-invasive gallbladder removals are still prevalent. To deter this sort of situation, the designer aims to employ four dimensional ultrasound technology to better “see” the insides of the patient, including inside the bladder the surgeon is detaching. This 4D imaging is used currently to see real-time images of fetuses in the wombs of expectant mothers. What this device does it make that technology realistic for the operating table. Posted: 24 Nov 2010 12:03 AM PST Behold a sound experience by designer Ji Young Shon. This is called Whispering Leaves, and it’s a multiple sound speaker system installation piece of artwork installed at the Royal College of Art. It is what Shon calls a new kind of sound system interface which utilizes film-thin speakers to create for you an environment of sound unlike any other. Each leaf has a different sound, varying slightly between the shapes, sizes, and bendings. The sound you’ll hear is magical, a mix of sources and a mix of waves, a mosaic, harmony coming from all walls. This installation piece can be installed in any sort of art gallery as it only requires that the vines of the leaves be attached to the walls. Simple. Check out the video below to get an idea of what you’ll be hearing when you see this in real life. Designers: Ji Young Shon ---------- |
