| Posted: 17 Feb 2011 08:58 AM PST Meet MET, a two-person vehicle for the single person family of the future. The need for massive cars is dwindling so MET was designed to address the social constructs of future families to meet the needs and possibilities of an electric future. Instead of massive and heavy battery backs, the rear wheel is the battery. It can be swapped for a charged one from public stations or home charging units. | Wartime Decor, Modern and Upscale Posted: 17 Feb 2011 08:52 AM PST The KALAB Exhibition features military surplus and “souvenirs” turned into enigmatic furniture and home decor. Born out of the Israeli conflict, there’s a strong mixture between military and civilian life – defining the culture. Vases made out of bomb shells, ashtrays made from extinct bullets and a sofa stacked like a dugout. It raises questions of security and confronts the idea of civilians playing the part of the soldier. Curator: Anat Benvenisti Designers: Yoav Avinoam & Tarazi Studio ---------- |
| Fork, Knife and Spoon Go Where? Posted: 17 Feb 2011 08:45 AM PST The plastic cutlery set JOIN has a very unique and playful joining mechanism inspired by an old Japanese game. It challenges the classic table setting and toys with proper etiquette. It’s absolutely brilliant. I want it bad – functional and whimsical. Explains why it was awarded the Design Plus award. | If Bang & Olufsen Made a Sink Faucet Posted: 17 Feb 2011 12:39 AM PST Designer Jessica Hunt answers with a rather interesting concept. Her take is a sleek brushed steel tube with a long notch along one side for water to flow. No knobs or taps; a simple swipe across the arm turns it on. It offers various levels of hot and cold water through lateral touch points and comes with a handy spray. It even includes a pyramid base, which doubles as a soap dispenser. How very B&O – stark and highly functional. Disclaimer: This is a concept project and has nothing to do with Bang & Olufsen Design Mentor: Dr. Young Mi Choi Designer: Jessica Hunt

| Posted: 17 Feb 2011 12:32 AM PST The Plug Socket is quite the brilliant design. It's basically a multiplug that can hook up three plugs at a time and take care of the wiry mess for you. It ain’t pretty to look at but this is a case of function over form. Designer: Xie Chen Chen

| Posted: 17 Feb 2011 12:30 AM PST Someone shared this video of how a tiny apartment in Hong Kong transforms into 24 rooms! This is a challenge faced by designers world over; converting shoeboxes and irregular grounds to something majestic and spacious called home. Have a look at one such challenge called the Fold Place. As the name suggests, it is a narrow irregular plot of 20′x60′ that’s converted in to a spectacular home for the Campbells. Credits
