Walkman phone, Windows 8, iPad 2: US Update Posted: 03 Mar 2011 05:21 PM PST
A smarter Walkman phone is coming soon according to Sony Ericsson's latest poster. The new and improved Walkman phones will likely run Android, here's what we know. Leaked screenshots of Windows 8 have surfaced and we've got the goods. The tablet version looks to be on track for a late May, early June release. HP and Fossil have finally produced a connected watch. As the aggregation point of all your devices, the watch will be the hub of connectivity — we've got the video to prove it. The iPad 2 has been confirmed by Orange and T-mobile UK. No pricing information or plans are available just yet, but expect a launch on March 25th. Last up this morning is a video showing the iPad playing the Gran Turismo for Playstation 3. Using everyAir software, PS3, desktop computer, capture card and input device, it is now possible to bring exclusive Playstation titles to any iOS device, find out how. That wraps up the latest and greatest in tech news this morning. As always I'm Nick Marshall and I'll see you again tomorrow. Related posts:

Play PS3 games on your iPhone or iPad [video] Posted: 03 Mar 2011 05:07 PM PST
If you've been dreaming of the day you'll be able to play Gran Turismo 5 on your iOS device, that day is coming sooner than you may think. Using Pandaelf's software everyAir, your PC or Mac will become the middleman capturing gameplay from your PS3 using an capture card (HD PVR/Colossus) to be sent wirelessly to your iOS device of choice. There are a few other working parts, but we recommend taking a peak at the video below first. You could certainly wait for the Playstation Suite or even make the leap to the Xperia Play, but there's no guarantee you'll have access to exclusive PS3 titles with either solution. For now it looks like everyAir is the way to go. Unfortunately the price of admission for a computer, capture card and PS3 is a tough pill to swallow. via Ubergizmo Related posts:

iPad 2 confirmed for T-mobile and Orange UK: lands March 25th? Posted: 03 Mar 2011 04:47 PM PST
At Apple's iPad 2 event, Steve Jobs revealed the US launch would take place on March 11th. This launch would be followed by a March 25th release in 26 other countries. Lucky for you, the UK is one of those select 26. Shortly after, Conor Maples @conorfromorange announced via Twitter,
We've covered the iPad 2 extensively. Compared it to the original iPad, revealed the top 5 reasons the iPad 2 is the tablet to beat in 2011 and even showed you how to turn the iPad 2 into a full-fledged set top box. With less than a month to make a decision we hope that either T-mobile or Orange will come forward with some pricing and plan information. In related news, Twitter for iPad and iPhone has been updated. The new version includes an overhauled Tweet compose screen, automatic URL shortener, auto-complete for usernames and improved direct message conversation. Download it free in the App Store or check for an update. via Nexus404 Related posts:

HP Fossil connected watch does exist [video] Posted: 03 Mar 2011 04:02 PM PST
While speaking at HP's Future of Innovation event, Phil McKinney spoke about the company's focus on delivering a family of devices and how these devices are going to work together. In order to create this synergy, a connected watch will become the aggregation point for our devices. In the video above (around the 25 minute mark) you can see the watch centralize connectivity instead of having each device operate independently. This is not your everyday run-of-the-mill watch. It runs a full software stack, and is fully integrated with the Internet. Connect it, share it, bring it together while acting as the central hub for all of your devices. As much as we'd love to see the connected watch manifest itself in a product launch this year, don't hold your breath. Phil McKinney made it very clear these products will be brought to market when “the timing is right”. If you ask me, that time is now, but unfortunately I'm not the connected watch product manager. Let’s cross our fingers and hope HP and Fossil fast track this puppy. via Precentral Related posts:

Windows 8 sceenshots leak: tablet UI on track for summer Posted: 03 Mar 2011 02:28 PM PST
Before we jump in, it should be noted the following screenshots have been independently confirmed — they were taken from an early Milestone 2 build of Windows 8. Traditionally Microsoft unveils new technologies at the Wall Street Journal's D: All Things Digital Conference. This is where the company first demoed Surface and Windows 7 multitouch. Also on the agenda are Windows 8 ARM based tablets. Based on Dell's leaked tablet roadmap, the first wave of Windows 8 tablets should become commercially available in early 2012. A demo this summer at All Things D would fall in line with those estimates. As we mentioned earlier this week, Computex conference, also in June, could also be the landing point. For now we know Microsoft is partnering with several big hitters including nVidia, Qualcomm and Texas Instruments to produce tablets. Whether these tablets will sport the rumored dual-UI for Windows 8 remains to be seen. via Win7China Related posts:

The return of the Sony Ericsson Walkman phone Posted: 03 Mar 2011 02:02 PM PST
Sony Ericsson is poised to return the Walkman phone line up to the pinnacle of smartphone vitality. In a poster received by our friends at concept-phones (shown below), Sony Ericsson makes the promise of a smarter Walkman phone coming soon. There's no telling what Sony Ericsson has up its sleeves, but Android 2.3 Gingerbread is certainly the odds on favorite. A spacious touchscreen, gaming features and best-in-class music playback would also be a nice touch. What would you like to see from Sony Ericsson's next wave of Walkman phones? via concept-phones Related posts:

First up, tablets: the iPad 2 is now official, but if you just bought the first one, don’t despair. There’s a way to get your money back to match the new low price of the original. And speaking of tablets, the Motorola Xoom has just hit UK pre-order too – will you be slapping down for one? Elsewhere in mobile meanwhile, a new report set tongues wagging with word that RIM could be porting its beloved BlackBerry Messenger to Android – and even the iPhone. Finally, in gaming, Sony announced plans to let hackers have at the PlayStation Move controller, with a new Move.me service to give it PC input powers. Still want more news? Roll on over to the homepage and help yourself to it all as it breaks. Related posts:

Use your PlayStation Move to control a PC Posted: 03 Mar 2011 09:25 AM PST The PlayStation Move’s just had its doors pulled wide open for business by Sony. A new service, Move.me, has just been revealed by the gaming giant, which lets hackers, researchers and the like start programming games and programs that make use of the motion control wand, the PS3 and PC.
While Microsoft has been quick to legitimise Kinect hacking, Sony’s now embracing developers, tinkerers and scientists too. Its new Move.me is a server application that lets you use the PlayStation Move as an input device: what you whip up after that is up to you, but Sony’s hoping that games focusing on “fitness and nutrition”, “physical therapy” and “creative arts” will be high in the agenda. Check out our best PS3 Move games Top 5 now We can certainly see the broad scope this move provides. As we said in our PlayStation Move review last year, we found it to be “the closest we've seen to 1:1 in motion control gaming so far, and when you find a game that uses the tech properly…[it] will really make you marvel at its potential.” Sony is making Move.me for PlayStation Move available for download sometime this Spring on the PlayStation Network – at an unspecified price – but if you want, you can apply for early access over at the Move.me site. Don’t get too down if you don’t get in though: we wouldn’t be surprised if you need a .ac email address right now. You know how Sony feels about hackers. What would you like to use the PlayStation Move to control? Give us your best ideas in the comments below. Related posts:

Alcatel Professor Green smartphone: Not swag in the slightest Posted: 03 Mar 2011 08:25 AM PST
Actually, we take that back. Alcatel remind us in the release for the Professor Green team up that it also “collaborated” with Eliza Doolittle for a phone last year, and we can’t decide between the rock and hard place terribleness of Alcatel’s 2010 and 2011 celebrity collaborations. ![]() The team up between Professor Green and Alcatel is to launch the Alcatel One Touch 802, but there’s no branding on the Professor Green phone whatsoever. It’s not even green. We’re disappointed. Needless to say it also comes without the hoped-for pre-loaded shanking app, but does come packing social networking apps. What’s worse? Alcatel and Eliza Doolittle or Professor Green and Alcatel? Shout out in the comments! Related posts:
