Posted: 03 May 2011 08:35 AM PDT Shaped like the lucky horseshoe, LED Magnetic Night Light is a delightful new look for the bedside lamp. It features a plug that charges up its battery pack, making it a portable light. Power is extended to a USB port at one end to charge up your phone and gadgets. Sleek and devised with clever functionality, I really hope this makes it from concept to stores soon. Designer: Xinhua Ming ---------- |
Posted: 03 May 2011 08:34 AM PDT The 2 – Storage USB Memory Stick is an ideal stick for a person like me, who is so forgetful of what data I store where. The color partitions replicate what a physical partition looks like. One is for personal stuff and the other for work; so simple! 2 – Storage USB Memory Stick is a 2011 iF concept design entry. Posted: 03 May 2011 08:33 AM PDT Electric bikes are beginning to improve in power and efficiency and no longer appear obviously electrified. The NEO family of bikes represents an evolution that’s rugged, easy to operate and for the most part, driven by technology transparent to the rider. The battery and control mechanism have been moved to the down tube improving center of gravity and looking less conspicuous. Easily removable and can be recharged at home. Posted: 03 May 2011 08:27 AM PDT The new collection of backpacks designed for IDI by Vinaccia Integral Design, combine lightness and strength, thanks to a carbon fiber external skeleton which supports and protect the nylon fabric waterproof and tear resistant interior. There are three pockets, accessible from the exterior without opening the backpack. Inside there is room for a 15-inch laptop plus other compartments for accessories. I’m feeling uber “cyberish” over these. This isn’t your kid’s Jansport. The color range includes two colors for the exterior ABS shell, silver and rubber matte black, the natural carbon version, and four colors for the fabric: red, gray, black and lime green. Posted: 03 May 2011 12:01 AM PDT Timeline Tools isn’t your average toolbox. Encased in it’s iconic barn silhouette is a magnetic-mountable camera that tracks the action of it’s tools. Each time a tool is removed and used, the camera captures an image, time-stamps it, and continues compiling until the camera is returned to the toolbox, providing a detailed summary of the construction process from start to finish. Perfect for sharing projects and providing streamlined instruction to visual learners. Designer: Jack Chalkley Timeline Tools – Jack Chalkley from Jack Chalkley on Vimeo. ---------- |
Posted: 03 May 2011 12:01 AM PDT From boosts in IQ scores to improvements in self esteem, music is a valuable activity that can contribute immensely to the development of a child. Copy Cats is an early education tool that brings playtime and learning together in the form of interactive stories, or “cat-tales,” introducing kids to basic music elements such as singing, playing, listening, and even composing. I don’t even think I could resist pushing those cute kitty-cat-buttons. Designer: Robert Zhang Copy Cats (Early Music Education Kit) from (Robert) Xiaochuan Zhang on Vimeo. ---------- |
Posted: 03 May 2011 12:01 AM PDT The semitransparent veneer of this beautiful pendant lamp by designer Pavel Eekra mimics the shape of the pine cone and creates a soft and inviting glow. Each of the 56 thin overlapping scales made of natural maple are held together with a single screw hidden beneath the preceding scale, adding to it’s organic and clean form without the need for an internal skeleton. From the log cabin to the minimal studio, this design is perfect for warming up any room. Even better is that it’s flat-pack ready and you can put it together yourself! Get it here.
