| Samsung Galaxy S II LTE and Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE Officially Announced Posted: 28 Aug 2011 10:46 AM PDT Well, there you have it folks. Samsung today has officially announced that they will in fact be releasing a few LTE devices coming soon. They are set to unveil these new items at this coming weeks IFA event. What we have is an official announcement of both an upgraded Galaxy S II LTE and they also confirmed the rumor that the Galaxy Tab 8.9 would also receive 4G LTE.
We recently heard Verizon will not carry the Galaxy S II so either that is because they will carry the Galaxy S II LTE instead or they just wont be carrying it at all and instead AT&T would get that LTE Love. We’ve recently seen leaks of an upgraded SGSII with 4G LTE and a brushed aluminum back called the Samsung Celox and chances are that might be what we see this week at IFA in Berlin. The official announcement thanks to Engadget also clears up a few rumors that Samsung would be beefing up the processor speed of these new devices. According to the release they will both be operating with a 1.5 Ghz dual-core processor rather than the 1.2 Ghz in current SGSII phones. Both the Galaxy S II LTE and the 8.9″ Tab will have the faster processor and the SGSII LTE will also get a bump in screen size to a 4.5″ AMOLED display as discussed here. We recently saw the Galaxy Tab 8.9 on video and you can watch that here. Now we know it will have 4G LTE and a faster dual-core processor it basically sounds amazing and the perfect all around tablet in my opinion. With speed, performance, connectivity and perfect form factor what else would you want? Don’t forget we will be live at IFA in Berlin so check back all week for more news coming out of the event. | Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7″ Shown off in the Wild Posted: 27 Aug 2011 05:44 PM PDT We haven’t heard anything regarding a 7.7″ Galaxy Tab until just recently when someone spotted the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 name in the new Samsung Unpacked App. So far that is all we know but don’t worry we will be finding out plenty more this next week at IFA in Berlin. We might even see a new Galaxy S II at IFA if we’re lucky.
The photo shown above, as well as another at the source, claim this to be the new Samsung Galaxy 7.7″ Tab. While the blurrycam image above does get me a little excited as I think a 7.7″ Honeycomb tablet would be an awesome size and just right for portability. Then they have a second photo that makes me a little iffy and start to second guess it. Looking just like the original Samsung Galaxy Tab 7″ in the second photo our sources provide we can’t really be sure what we are looking at.
We know a Galaxy Tab 7.7″ is coming and most likely with a Super AMOLED Display like we saw leaked here. In that and other recent leaks we are lead to believe the new Galaxy Tab would be running on Android 3.2 Honeycomb but the leaked photos show capacitive touch buttons, something we don’t need with Honeycomb. Either way I’m excited to see what Samsung has coming but for now I’ll be taking these photos with a grain of salt. What do you guys think? [via Android-Life] ) |
| Motorola DROID Bionic Shows up at Motorola Online Store Posted: 27 Aug 2011 05:26 PM PDT The Motorola Droid Bionic has decided to tease us all a bit more this weekend and has been kind enough to make a small cameo on the Motorola online web-store. While sadly we can’t buy the phone it is a good sign of things to come. If a price and “Buy Now” box was on there trust me I’d be yelling it from the rooftops.
Now we know where the recent press photos came from though right? The Motorola Web-store and it shows us plenty of the phone and its curves. Not only that but we also recently got a full video rundown on the software and installed apps and you can watch that entire video by clicking here. Here’s all the press photos nicely lined up for everyone.
I wont really get into details because if you don’t know the specifics and info on the Bionic by now you’ve been living in a cave. Lets just say it should be pretty epic when it finally launches. That dual-core CPU and 4G LTE should help things out a bit, but only a little. With what we can assume is pretty great battery life and a beefed up 8MP camera with that hump around the rear this should impress from all angles. Only a few more weeks and we’ll have it in our grubby little fingers to enjoy so stay tuned guys. [via store.motorola.com] ) |
| HTC Holiday Leaks Confirm 4.5″ qHD Display, 4G LTE, and 1.2 Ghz Dual-core Posted: 27 Aug 2011 05:09 PM PDT We now have even more photos of the HTC Holiday. This beast of a smartphone will be one of a few awesome choices this “Holiday” season headed for AT&T. We first saw the HTC Holiday leak a few weeks ago with a cracked screen and some pretty revealing details but today we have even more good stuff to show you. The photos confirm the 4.5″ qHD display (same as first leaks) but also the 4G LTE radio under the hood.
The HTC Holiday should be one of the first 4G LTE phones to hit AT&T later this year. Some of the other awesome specs include that 4.5″ qHD display, a 1.2 Ghz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, 16GB Internal SD card, 8MP camera on the rear with dual LED flash with a front VGA shooter for video chat. Wifi and all that other usual goodness. We also are seeing Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread like the previous leaks suggested as well as HTC Sense UI 3.0 although we’ve heard rumors and seen screenshots of Sense UI 3.5 recently.
We still haven’t heard anything regarding AT&T’s 4G LTE network or the status it’s in but a few leaked details lately have confirmed we shouldn’t see much until late this year. We also saw this leaked roadmap of AT&T’s upcoming phones but oddly enough the very real HTC Holiday is not listed. The HTC Jetstream Tablet was also recently spotted in the wild with AT&T 4G LTE on board so it appears things are moving along quickly. I have a feeling HTC and AT&T have big plans for LTE. Don’t forget about the Motorola Atrix HD though, it’s coming soon too. [via Engadget] ) |
