| Toshiba’s Android Tablet, The Folio 100 Specs Revealed Posted: 29 Aug 2010 09:28 AM PDT With all the recent Android tablet news, it’s looking like there is going to be a big war in the tablet market, especially the Android Tablet market. If you were thinking that the Galaxy Tab was going to give the iPad some competition, let’s talk about the Toshiba Android Tablet, now being labeled the Folio 100. Let’s get to the meat here, we know you are wondering what will power this tablet.
Yes, it’s NVIDIA’S dual-core Tegra 250, which should help this slate run pretty snappy. The Folio 100 will have a 10 inch screen, with a resolution of 1024×600 and will have the ability to send HD video out of it’s HDMI port. To help give some space for storage, the tablet will have 16gb of internal storage, SD card slot, and both full size and mini USB ports. Internet access will be taken care of by both Wi-Fi and 3G, Bluetooth is enabled here also. If you are a video chat fan this tablet has a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera only. Toshiba will have Android 2.2 aboard, but they are of course, overlaying a skin on top of it to help make the OS more tablet friendly. Toshiba will be promoting the equipped Opera Mobile Browser that will also be running Flash 10.1. Hopefully, Flash won’t be a battery killer, Toshiba is claiming around a 7 hour battery life. We could possibly hear all about the Folio 100 next week at the IFA-Event, and there have been whispers of an October ship date, nothing is confirmed here though. So as the tablet news keeps coming, we are getting more excited about getting them in our hands and putting them to the test. It should not be long. [via electonista] ) |
| Samsung’s Galaxy S Gorilla Glass Getting Abused Posted: 28 Aug 2010 04:53 PM PDT The infamous Gorilla Glass is supposed to be some of the strongest glass for electronic devices, and is very hard to scratch or break. Most of us are still paranoid that we are going to scratch our precious devices, and we use all kinds of cases and screen protectors. If you are one of those people that are really worried about scratching your device that has a Gorilla Glass screen, you might want to watch this video below. The video is in the Korean language but there is no need to translate on this one, just keep watching to be amazed.
As you will see, if you were to put one of these Galaxy S phones in your pocket or purse with your standard everyday items, it should not get any scratches on the screen. It also appears that it can handle a little bit of the everyday drop that normally occurs, like falling out of your lap or slipping out of your hand. Of course if you try hard to abuse it, you can make it happen. We always cringe when we see people do this to a device, but are very glad that someone is taking the risk, to show us what kind of abuse that the phone will take. When it come to our phones, we are going to try and take the best care of them that we can, they cost to much and we would not want to have to pay that full retail price to replace them. | Samsung Galaxy Tab Accessories Posted: 28 Aug 2010 03:43 PM PDT We are getting closer to the Samsung Galaxy Tab announcement at the IFA-2010 event and we have some official Samsung Galaxy Tab accessories that have popped up. Is this making us any more anxious about hearing all the details and when the release date is? Absolutely. You can see here…
that there is a leather bag/case, table charging station (with HDMI port), keyboard dock, USB cable adapter, and earphones. With the style of these accessories, it appears that Samsung is going after the iPad crowd somewhat. Until next week, keep your checkbooks and debit cards in your pocket, but who knows, it could be a lot sooner than later, that we are getting some 2.2 Froyo goodness on this 7 inch device. I know we are boiling with excitement. via oled-display |
| Samsung Fascinate for Verizon Shown Off in Standard Samsung Promo Video Posted: 28 Aug 2010 11:50 AM PDT First, there was the promotional video for the Samsung Galaxy S — the device that started it all, basically. It showcased all of the great features of the device, like its four-inch Super AMOLED display, and how easy it is to use the Swype keyboard. It did a good job of making people want the phone. Soon after, with the launches of the Galaxy S variants scheduled for release here in the States, promo videos started showing up of each specific device. Now it looks like the Fascinate is next in line.
The only real trouble with these videos is the fact that, not counting the Epic 4G for Sprint, all of the devices are the same, and have the same features. For the most part. So, when we’re watching a promo video such as this, we can’t help but feel like we’ve seen this before. Though, we can’t really say that’s a bad thing — we want the Fascinate. So, go ahead and check out the video below, and let us know what you think in the comments, as usual. Click here to view the embedded video. [via OLED-Display.net; thanks, Erik!] ) |
