Posted: 10 May 2011 08:35 AM PDT Leaves is a concept watch inspired by women’s fashion. Look closely and you’ll see the shape of two leaves, hence the name. One leaf indicates hour while the other – minutes. Other than that, there’s nothing revolutionary about the concept but it seems to be a nice balance between fashion and tech gadgetry which is actually rare in women’s accessories. Posted: 10 May 2011 08:31 AM PDT The Aqua Clock is designed to show time in a new way. A mechanism inside moves the water up and down and apparently water is the perfect non-resistant element. I’m not exactly sure how to read it. Seems the demarcations around the ring help indicate time or it could be the water level just abstractly represents how much time is left in the day. Posted: 10 May 2011 08:28 AM PDT Eco-Lantern is a hand-held lantern that doubles up as a terrarium for tree saplings using a growth light as the light source. The idea of combining a useful object with a secondary purpose is quite interesting, especially if the purpose requires a certain level of commitment. I may not be inclined to grow a green patch, but if something as innovative as this comes along, who knows – it may motivate me enough! Designer: Franklin Gaw ---------- |
Posted: 10 May 2011 08:25 AM PDT Just like loading your double-barrel gun and taking a shot at the monster down the alley! I get the same kinda vibe with the il Tiro – One Shot of Espresso; a gun shaped dispenser that delivers the perfect shot of cuppa delight. The video explains the workings and if you ask me, it will definitely be a conversation starter with your local barista. Posted: 10 May 2011 12:01 AM PDT Combining fluid contours and reflective, polished surfaces, this concept yacht interior by designer Adelina Popescu reflects the natural beauty in the shapes and textures of the ocean environment. Aquatic blue reflects in glossy finishes adding to the oceanic theme, while creative use of embedded linear LED lighting highlights the overall space while providing relief from the wavy interior. Posted: 10 May 2011 12:01 AM PDT Either origami is in right now or I’ve just been noticing it more in product design lately. Usually I find it as an inspiration that focuses on the actually folding techniques (usually for space saving) versus the finished origami paper construction. The Oru Armchair is a breath of fresh air as it clearly takes inspiration from the latter which is clearly expressed in it’s abrupt angles and deliberate creases. In contrast with the sharp exterior, the core of the chair, the seat itself, is both cushy and relaxing. Designer: Ramon Esteve ---------- |
Posted: 10 May 2011 12:01 AM PDT This lamp was made to be played with! Lamp E by Kako.Ko design studio is made of tough extruded aluminum and a single side of LED lights that line each of the three rectangular multi-directional branches to direct light to different places. The orientation of the LED strips means the lights will always be visible no matter what position the user places it in. Gotta love this clever interactive lighting sculpture.
