The Yahoo! Phone: Running on Google’s Android

Posted: 18 Aug 2011 11:08 AM PDT

Can you say Winning… Oh wait I must be confusing this with something else. Apparently Yahoo is planning to build a phone running on Google’s Android OS. Maybe I should say fail instead but then again Yahoo is the biggest search giant in Japan, not Google. What we have here are a few reports that over in Japan Yahoo is planning to release an Android phone with a nice custom user interface skin and geared at you guessed it — Yahoooo!

The carrier SoftBank in Japan has introduced this "Yahoo Phone", equipped on what appears to be just a re-branded Sharp AQUOS phone. It should feature a 1 Ghz processor, a 4.0″ qHD display, Android 2.3 Gingerbread and snapping photos with a 8MP shooter. Like many phones in Japan it will also feature a TV tuner on board.

Looking at the image above I can see Google’s Android Market so it will probably be blessed with their specific apps like Gmail, Maps, Voice search, and the all important Market but everything else will most likely be all about Yahoo and you can bet the browser homepage wont be Google that is for sure. It also appears users who buy the phone will get access to Yahoo Premium for 2 years free with purchase.

Most likely this phone will never see the light of day outside of Japan but either way it’s pretty interesting, and I also felt like saying “winning”.

Google Music Beta Introduces Magnifier, Giving Away Free Music

Posted: 18 Aug 2011 10:28 AM PDT

Since the launch of Google Music we haven’t heard much and it still is currently in beta. Now Google aims to flex some of that music muscle because they have just launched a new blog called Magnifier. The music blog will not only have future Google Music updates but will also highlight new and upcoming artists, give away free music and be a place people can find new and upcoming music they’d never usually find.

Each and every day the blog will feature new exciting and unique music and you will be able to instantly download the music free to your Google Music collection with the easy to see and use “add free music” button. Best part of this entire thing is all of the music is free and wont cost you a thing, and its legal. From video interviews and more the Magnifier Blog will have all the content you can imagine for music lovers.

Don’t worry because if you miss a day and later realize they had some awesome music featured you can still get it free too so you will always have access to the featured artists. It appears they are focused mainly on showing new and interesting artists and getting the content out for free, the blog is a pretty basic and nice design so users should be able to easily navigate. They also have a free “song of the day” as well as links to Google’s free song archive on the bottom right.

While it may not be the best stuff I’ve heard, My Morning Jacket who Google has listed are actually pretty cool, if you like their sound you should also check out Band of Horses.

Samsung Galaxy S II Upgrade Teased for IFA 2011 [Update: VIDEO]

Posted: 18 Aug 2011 10:03 AM PDT

We’ve gotten our first peek at what may well be the next generation Samsung Galaxy S II, or at least the idea of it, in a short 30 second teaser trailer for IFA 2011. This trailer is at the moment no longer available for public viewing (and will probably remain this way until we get a bit closer to the actual Berlin event,) but based on what we’ve seen, IFA 2011 is sure to have an “Unpacked” event that’ll reveal some sort of newness in the smartphone-holding hands of citizens in the form of bright lights. This advertisement took the form of the handheld torches sort of look we’ve been treated to in the past when the Galaxy S II was first teased, this new ad revealing not just a whole heck of a lot of additional info on the subject.

What we can guess though from the YouTube listing as it exists in cached form is, based on the tags Samsung hath bestowed upon it, that this is going to be a 4G LTE version of the Galaxy S II. Thus far the device has only been able to work with 3G bands – if this is true, we may well be looking at a cross-carrier release here in the USA when the time comes. A Verizon 4G LTE Samsung Galaxy S II – can you imagine? Further, in the text from the YouTube video we can also clearly look forward to a Samsung Unpacked app to be released before the event – will it contain additional teasers?

Something Big Is Coming! Join us at SAMSUNG MOBILE UNPACKED 2011 Episode II, Sketches of Your Desire, on September 1st, 2011 in Berlin, Germany. You can also download UNPACKED application from Samsung Apps and Android™ Market.

Something Big could also be an enlarged display size. God knows we’ve been enjoying the insane largeness of the Samsung Infuse 4G with its Super AMOLED Plus display – why not bump up the Samsung Galaxy S II now that it’s about to have a USA release? Something Big could mean anything, on the other hand, and aside from the fact that the tags for this video indicate pretty clearly that this is going to be a Samsung Galaxy S II release: what do you think it could be?

Also we’re working on finding an alternate source for the video, so stay tuned!

UPDATE: WE got our hands on the video and you can take a peek at it here:

TiVo Commander app gets updated

Posted: 18 Aug 2011 07:49 AM PDT

TiVo owners out there that use an Android smartphone and want to be able to control their TiVo DVRs can grab a newly updated app and do just that. The app is called TiVo Commander and it is not affiliated with TiVo at all. The app is a clone of the official TiVo controllers for iOS devices. You can grab the newly updated app on the Android Market right now.

The new update brings the app to version 3.0 and was made this week. The app is a full remote control for your TiVo with integrated keyboard input. The app allows the user to browse all the recorded shows, watch shows and delete, search for shows/movies/actors, and shows the credits for movies and shows. The app also has a feature to suggest other shows and movies.

Another cool feature is the ability to record individual shows and to add or modify season passes. The update brings a fix for person view and adds in the ability to reconnect with settings if the app is used for multiple DVRs. The app also has better handling of connection timeouts and season passes work when all shows are picked.

Insiders claim LG declined to be Google’s first Android partner, HTC took the deal

Posted: 18 Aug 2011 07:13 AM PDT

If you are a fan of Android, you know that HTC is the official Google partner on the first commercial Android smartphone. I never really thought about other firms Google might have tried to work with before settling on HTC. Apparently, HTC wasn’t the first choice for Google. Sources claim that Google first approached LG for a partnership.

The negotiations for the hardware partners are said to have started all the way back in 2007. Apparently, LG was in for a while and then decided to opt out of the partnership in the middle of 2007. Google then turned to HTC, which at the time was relatively unknown to many smartphone users. HTC stepped in and the rest is history. HTC is now the maker of some of the most popular Android smartphones around.

Why LG opted out of the Android deal is unknown. There is some speculation that considering LG was working on the all-touch Prada phone about the same time the first iPhone came out perhaps LG wanted to focus on its own hardware thinking it would be successful. The thunderous adoption of the iPhone proved that bet to be a bad one for LG.

ThinkFlood launches the first Android universal remote system

Posted: 18 Aug 2011 06:33 AM PDT

There are hoards of universal remote control hardware and software systems on the market for iOS, but there aren’t many for the Android user. If you are an Android user that wants a universal remote for your smartphone ThinkFlood has announced what it claims to be the first universal remote system for Android smartphones.

The app is compatible with all networked RedEye products including the RedEye and RedEye Pro. The app will work on Android OS 1.6 devices and up and it will also work on Honeycomb 3.0 tablets.

It’s worth noting that even with the Android beta software available, the RedEye gear will needs an iOS device to configure the products. The ability to configure the products with Android will come in a later version of the Android app. For now if you have RedEye hardware in your home and an iOS device to configure, you can try out the beta Android software for controlling your gear.

UPDATE: As it turns out, this app is no longer in Beta mode, it’s in production mode and you can grab it on the Android Market now! – Thanks April!

Radio Shack offers Samsung Conquer 4G for $19.99

Posted: 18 Aug 2011 03:36 AM PDT

Earlier this month when we talked about the Samsung Conquer 4G smartphone we mentioned that the little beast would be under $100. Radio Shack is now offering a screaming deal on the smartphone that puts it WAY under $100. If you want to get yourself some 4G love with an Android device and need a new 2-year contract, you can land the smartphone for $19.99.

You can pre-order the device at Radio Shack right now and get free shipping and no activation fee. Naturally, to get the most out of the Conquer 4G you will need to be in one of the relatively few WiMax coverage areas, otherwise 3G is all you are going to be able to use. If you aren't familiar with this smartphone, I will run the specs down for you below.

The device has Android 2.3 onboard and uses a 3.5-inch 320 x 480 screen. The processor is a 1GHz Snapdragon and it has a 3.2MP rear camera along with a 1.3MP front camera. The phone also has WiFi, GPS, a microSD card slot, and can function as a mobile hotspot.

Andy Rubin shared his first multi-million dollar bonus check with employees

Posted: 18 Aug 2011 02:53 AM PDT

Fans of Android are likely familiar with the name Andy Rubin. Rubin has been around the tech world in a big way and is famous as the founder of Danger and then as the dude that is responsible for Android. It took a long time for this to surface, but apparently, back in 2008 Rubin shared the wealth when he got his first big bonus check from Google.

The 2008 bonus was given to Rubin when Android shipped and Rubin turned around and shared the loot with the workers that helped him bring Android to market. At the time, there were 100 or so workers on the team. According to the WSJ, each of the workers received between $10,000 and $50,000 directly out of Rubin’s own pocket.

That is a dude that takes care of his employees. Rubin is also known to throw two parties a year for his workers at his home in Mountain View. The best bonus I ever got from an employer was a free turkey. I should have worked for Rubin.

Google Reader v1.0.1 for Tablets App Review

Posted: 18 Aug 2011 12:43 AM PDT

Ever have the feeling that it would make more sense for a group of developers to WAIT to release an app rather than sent it out with a less than optimal user interface? Google didn’t wait to release Google Reader back in the days when there were only handsets around, they jammed it out there and it looked pretty good, but bigger screens were directly on the horizon, and when these bigger screens arrived in tablet form, Google got busy. I mean got busy several months later, 3 quarters into the same year the Motorola XOOM was released near the beginning of, with a whole slew of tablets out ready and raring to Google Reader some feeds but having a non-fantastic official app to do it with – what’s one to do?!

You add another column, that’s what. This application already had downloads exceeding 1 million when the update occurred yesterday, these numbers sure to continue to rise now that the already working fine version is being updated with nicer and sweeter features. This update brings you a whole new look and feel and optimizes the application as a whole to work with tablets. What we’ve discovered that this means is that tablets Google deems large enough will have a new double-column setup working with them.

This review is conducted with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 you can also see working fabulously in our full review of the same name… actually in three different versions:
Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Review [Google I/O Limited Edition]
Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Review [Wi-Fi Edition]
Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 4G LTE Review [Verizon]

On the other hand, smaller tablets like the 7-inch Acer Iconia Tab A100 have the same interface as smartphones currently have in this updated version: one less column. This just means that while the larger tables are able to have a list of stories to read on the left while they read these stories on the right, 7-inch devices and smaller (8.9 too, if I’m not mistaken,) must stick with either the list OR the story on the screen by itself. Harsh life!

10-inch tablet users will be able to now rejoice and be glad because this app is as close as it gets to the web-based Google Reader which, yes indeed, you can still access using your mobile browser as well. This application is [free on the Android Market] and connects directly with your Google Reader account, requiring only Android 1.6 and above to work.

Samsung Hercules Pictures Leak, Including Benchmark Results

Posted: 17 Aug 2011 06:50 PM PDT

The popular Samsung Galaxy S II aka Hercules for Telus has showed its face again today and this time we get a view of some impressive benchmarks to go with it. One of the first Samsung Hercules shots we’ve seen was also a leak running on Telus and tonight it’s no different. This is another clear picture of what to expect in the Hercules and it looks like the Nexus S and Galaxy S II combined into one beautiful device.

These photos were spotted by MobileSyrup who was lucky enough to catch the Hercules running around in the wild. Also pictured are a few benchmark results showing some impressive numbers to say the least, it scores a solid 3300+ from what we are seeing initially. This 4.5″ screen packing 1.2 Ghz dual-core device sure looks better each time we see it and I can’t wait for the T-Mobile version to arrive.

Those impressive benchmark results make me think this may be rocking the Samsung Exynos chip rather than the Qualcomm but at the moment exact details are still a little hard to come by. We have heard and seen so many different variations over the past few weeks that this could be either or. Would you rather have the original Galaxy S II with a smaller screen and the dedicated home button? Or do you like this 4.5″ screen flavor rocking the usual Android capacitive buttons? Either way I just can’t wait for it to arrive so I can get my paws on it.

Inverted Twitter App, Socialize with a Black Color Theme

Posted: 17 Aug 2011 06:39 PM PDT

We all love Twitter right? Well those of you that haven’t fully migrated to Google+ of course. Today I have another Android app that has been inverted with a black color theme for you all to enjoy. Now you can tweet, twit, or do whatever it is you do in style with the “Black n Bold” Theme for Twitter. This adds style to Twitter while saving battery life at the same time.

This isn’t the first Inverted app I’ve posted as of late. Recently I showed you all the Google+ Inverted App and everyone seemed to love that although a few had issues with getting it going at first. Last week we featured Gmail getting the same treatment but today is all about the little birds of Twitter (and the wales).

See for yourself with the picture above. It looks sharp right? I’ve been using this for the past few hours this morning and I’ve yet to experience any issues. Make sure to uninstall the original Twitter app first, and back it up if you’d like although it’s always available from the market. This does not require root so you can just go ahead and check out the details at the source link, and download the modded APK and install like any other application. If you have any questions before continuing make sure to ask over at the RootzWiki thread.

Root Explorer Only $0.99 cents on the Amazon App Store [Deal]

Posted: 17 Aug 2011 03:53 PM PDT

You have probably read those lists or seen users suggest the top 5 android apps for a rooted user and the top of the list always contains Root Explorer. This is one of the most valuable tools you can download and I’ve been using it for as long as I can remember. It is $3.99 in the Android market and always has been. Today the Amazon App Store has it for $0.99 cents and this is an amazing deal and worth noting for all of our readers.

Even if you are not a root user it still has some awesome features for moving and managing all your important files. Copy and paste and things of that sort are also included. What makes Root Explorer special is that rooted users can access all of the hidden folders inside Android, including that illusive “data” folder. Here are a few more features as listed in the market.

Features include SQLite database viewer, Text Editor, create and extract zip or tar/gzip files, extract rar archives, multi-select, execute scripts, search, remount, permissions, bookmarks, send files (via email, bluetooth etc), image thumbnails, APK binary XML viewer, change file owner and group.

I use it to extract files or open downloaded zips all the time. I copy and paste files around and root explorer is also the app many users have that they use to edit the build.prop file inside Android. Root Explorer has tons of downloads in the Android Market but remains one of the all time most pirated Android applications to date. We don’t condone pirating applications and highly recommend and suggest you support the awesome developers.

This is a great time to show your appreciation and buy the app if you haven’t, and if you’ve been wondering why everyone always always recommends Root Explorer, now it is only $1 so you might as well see for yourself.

Motorola Droid 3 and other devices out of stock at Verizon

Posted: 17 Aug 2011 03:21 PM PDT

Some new details are coming forward stating that many of the devices offered over at Big Red (aka Verizon) are out of stock, back-ordered and even hitting end of life and will not be sold from here on out. For end of lifers it appears the Droid 2 and Motorola Citrus are both soon being added to the EOL list along with a few other less important feature phones. We also see the Droid 3 is back-ordered and users might have a hard time finding it in stock for purchase.

Other reports are suggesting that along with the Droid 3 Verizon is also seeing a shortage of devices for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 as well as the Continuum. The Droid 3 may or may not be selling well, especially with the Bionic on the way so they might have just not ordered enough. The Galaxy Tab is the first 4G LTE tablet and is probably been pretty hard to keep on the shelves. Then we have that Samsung Continuum (who named it anyways), I’m surprised this isn’t on the EOL list already because I don’t think I’ve actually ever seen one in public, but that’s just me.

Both the Wifi Galaxy Tab 10.1 as well as the original 7″ are not completely out yet but they are seeing constraints on their inventory. If you’ve been eying either of those tablets you might want to hurry and buy one before they are all sold out.

Samsung Super AMOLED HD Displays Coming Soon?

Posted: 17 Aug 2011 02:49 PM PDT

We all have been hearing a lot about HD displays on our smartphones as of late. From the HTC Vigor being HD, to the Droid HD spotted this morning. When we say HD we mean something packing in a 720p or higher resolution. The Vigor is rumored to be 1280×720 and the Droid HD should be similar. New reports from OLED-info is now claiming that Samsung and their AMOLED displays will be HD and are coming soon.

Just last week we saw a leaked roadmap from Samsung claiming many 4.5-6″ phones all coming with HD displays and more. We have also heard reports the original Galaxy Tab 7″ will be replaced later this year with a high resolution HD panel. While the AMOLED display has only been in the Galaxy line of phones thus far, we should be seeing them in plenty devices come this fall and early next year.

Recently Samsung has been gearing up AMOLED production and even ordered around 30 million touch sensors so they are planning to sell more than a few million devices that is for sure. OLED-info is claiming not only are the new AMOLED HD displays cheaper to make and being built on a better fabrication, but also be around 20% more efficient than previous models. What that means is we can expect larger, crisper, and prettier displays while not suffering lower battery life. If the 20% efficiency report is accurate these new HD displays could actually help battery life — something I’m sure everyone would be ok with.

We still don’t know all the details and the entire process is pretty complex but from what we are hearing Samsung should be ready to ship the new and beautiful super AMOLED HD panels in smartphones in tablet this fall and holiday season. I now want a quad-core Samsung Galaxy S III with a 4.5″ HD display running on CM7 now that Cyanogen himself works for Samsung, but that is just wishful thinking.

HTC Droid Incredible Gingerbread 2.3.4 Update Officially Halted

Posted: 17 Aug 2011 02:36 PM PDT

On Monday, some lucky Droid Incredible users started getting their Gingerbread update pushed to their phones. Today Verizon has confirmed that the update has been halted and delayed. With Gingerbread over half a year old, its been available in custom ROMs for months now. Apparently something in the Sense laden version isn’t working out quite right though as the build has been sent back to testing.

HTC’s Droid Incredible came out early last year, with the first batch of 1 GHz smartphones. Being over a year old though, with a successor already on the market, the Incredible is not at the top of Verizon’s priority list. That being said, a late update is better than no update I suppose.

Manufacturers’ skinning the updates, and then loading carriers’ bloatware and testing the functionality of it all adds a good delay to these updates. Apparently not enough of this testing was done in Verizon’s opinion as something caused them to halt the update and go back to testing. Of course if you REALLY want Gingerbread, then CyanogenMod is waiting

Lawsuit Filed Against Motorola Mobility and Google, This Time it’s Not Apple

Posted: 17 Aug 2011 02:25 PM PDT

Lately when I’ve seen anything related to a lawsuit in technology news I’ve immediately thought of either Apple or Microsoft but mainly the first one. It is almost sad that they have came down to being known almost as much for that as they are for their products, but that is another story itself. Today new reports are claiming that a Motorola shareholder has actually filed a lawsuit against Motorola and Google both, or as I’ve been calling them — Googarola.

When we first heard the news that Google acquired Motorola I’m sure many thought about the possible legal issues they may face but I doubt many were expecting something of this sort. Apparently an investor and shareholder named John W. Keating has filed a lawsuit against both parties as he feels Google severely underpaid and that effects him as a shareholder.

Here is what Keating had to say:

The offered consideration does not compensate shareholders for the company's intrinsic value and stand-alone alternatives going forward, nor does it compensate shareholders for the company's value as a strategic asset for Google."

We can clearly see the benefits of the acquisition and it will offer Google and OEM’s signification protection from further lawsuits so you can sort of see where Keating is coming from, even though initial reports suggested shareholders had agreed to the deal. Not to mention Google paid 63% OVER the share value at the time of closing.

From what I’m seeing the complaint has been filed on behalf of all Motorola Mobility shareholders, and Keating will be seeking class action status for the lawsuit in an attempt to get the deal completely stopped or denied. So far no comments have been made from either party but I’m sure we will be hearing more on this over the next few days. I guess I sort of expected someone to come forward and disagree with the deal, but not so fast.

Verizon’s Android Market Share Slips as AT&T and Regional Carriers Gain

Posted: 17 Aug 2011 01:58 PM PDT

Online advertising data gatherers, Chitika have published a follow up to research they conducted in March about the division of the Android market share among U.S. carriers. The data shows some interesting, but not all too surprising shifts over the past few months. Let’s take a look at how things have changed.

The original survey found Verizon to have over half the market, no doubt thanks to the likes of their enormously popular Droid line, sheer size, and lack of an iPhone. Since then Verizon’s launched several new LTE devices, but the Verizon iPhone has also been around for several months. What really caused Verizon to lose 10% of the market share, in my opinion at least was other carriers stepping up their game.

In the last few months, AT&T and regional carriers, such as Virgin Mobile and U.S. Cellular have shown a new commitment to Android. AT&T’s Motorola Atrix and Samsung Infuse are a couple of the 4G devices that it was desperately in need of at the start of this year. It hasn’t been enough to propel Ma Bell to the top, but it did more than double their previous, disheartening share of 3.583%.

While smaller regional carriers have usually been limited to older, or far less impressive phones, a few jewels have shown up. These phones, like the Motorola Triumph for Virgin Mobile and cheaper prices have made these other carriers more attractive. This all sounds good to me. I’ve always been one for consumer choice (I do love Android after all…)

Motorola Droid Bionic Tips Guide Leaks, Reveals Specs and Wireless Printing

Posted: 17 Aug 2011 01:03 PM PDT

The past few weeks have been full of Bionic leaks, and I mean full of them. We have seen more then enough leaked photos and even just this morning it was shown posing with the new Droid HD. Today some tips and tricks guides have been leaked that yet again confirm the specs of the device, as well as share a few other details.

As the launch gets closer (cross fingers it’s not delayed again) we just keep seeing more and more of this device. This is one of the more leaked phones I’ve seen in the recent past. The folks over at TechnoBuffalo happened to get their hands on the tips and tricks guide and were nice enough to throw up all the photos for everyone. While it shows all the specs we already knew, it mentions wireless printing and “top notch” security too.

With a dual-core CPU, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, a 4.3″ high-resolution display and that amazing 4G LTE most phones pale in comparison. The webtop and wireless printing we didn’t know for sure but the Atrix, Photon 4G, and Droid 3 all share the same features so this wasn’t a huge surprise. Another thing worth mentioning is the fact that it has 3 microphones for exceptional voice quality as well as noise cancellation.

While none of this is all that new to us or many of our readers, it’s nice to actually see it appear on some official paperwork from Motorola and Verizon. For more pictures and details head on over to the source via the link below.

Verizon 4G LTE Hitting 15 More Cities Tomorrow While Expanding in others

Posted: 17 Aug 2011 12:20 PM PDT

Verizon Wireless has been rolling out their latest 4G LTE networks faster than most of us imagined they would. Basically their 4G offering is putting the rest to shame, while AT&T is barely even getting started. We last heard of around 25 new cities getting updated back in July and now only a few weeks later they are adding 15 more cities to the 4G spectrum while upgrading and expanding the reach in many others.

Starting tomorrow August 18th, Verizon will be flipping the power switch to 15 more cities boosting them up to those lovely 4G speeds we’ve been seeing lately. Just in time for the 4G LTE DROID Bionic to hit the shelves right? It has been showing some impressive speedtest results thanks to 4G so anyone that is about to get the upgrade to 4G should be excited and probably buy the Bionic.

New 4G LTE Cities:

-Tucson, Ariz.
-Fayetteville/Springdale/Rogers, Ark.
-Bakersfield and Salinas/Monterey/Seaside, Calif.
-Fort Collins, Colo.; Frederick, Md.
-Worcester, Mass.
-Omaha, Neb./Council Bluffs, Iowa
-Albany, Ithaca and Syracuse, N.Y.
-Altoona and Johnstown, Pa.
-Memphis, Tenn.
-Provo, Utah.

Expanding service:

-Washington, D.C.
-Tampa, Fla.
-Atlanta, Ga.
-Baltimore, Md.
-Boston, Mass.
-Lansing, Mich.
-New York, N.Y.
-Cincinnati and Columbus, Ohio
-Salt Lake City-Ogden, Utah

There is a lot of larger cities as well as plenty smaller ones on both of those lists. Users will be happy to know they are about to get introduced to what we all have been loving for a few months already. For more details on all available 4G cities feel free to read over the Press Release. I’ve been enjoying 4G LTE on the Galaxy Tab 10.1 LTE version and you can read my full review here.

Is your town on that list, and if so are you already seeing 4G speeds if you own a 4G LTE device?

Photovine Launches on iOS: Why not Android?

Posted: 17 Aug 2011 12:15 PM PDT

It’s that time again, ladies and gentlemen, time when we’ve got to ask Google what the heck is going on, this time regarding a pretty awesome little social photography app by the name of Photovine. I just happen to have an iPad here, so I went ahead and checked the app out for all you non-adventurous types. Of course I was still working on the tiny iPhone-sized interface unless I wanted to have a pixel nightmare in front of me, so it was slim pickins for screen real-estate. Even so, Google’s excellent new app Photovine’s sweet nature shown through, and it’s gotten me wondering why the heck it wasn’t launched on Android instead of iOS.

Now there’s no way (or is there?) in the world Google isn’t going to be pushing this app to Android eventually, but the question remains: why start with iOS and not give its own mobile OS any love? This app connects you with friends across the universe via Vines – each Vine is a word or phrase, each photo added to a vine should have something to do with said word or phrase. Of course you can guess that there will be some loopholes and very possible inappropriateness going on in the future more than likely, but for now everything remains cute.

Google! How could you?! We want this super fun to use simple, neat, great, nice app for Android too! At least you’ve got to consider bringing it over to Android sooner than later. We don’t want to be late to the party! Meanwhile we’ll have to (SHHH) break out our significant other’s iPad or iPhone (perish the thought) to take a look while we wait.
